As a member of the Retirement Technology (RT) Senior Leadership Team, you will lead the SAVE (Service Availability and Engineering) organization.  This scope of responsibility will include all Software Availability and SRE Engineering components for RBS, SRT and RPS.  In totality, the scope of responsibility includes 140+ active applications.  You will be immersed in a collaborative, innovative, and technically challenging environment. The platforms you will support are essential to the success of the holistic Schwab Retirement lines of business.

What you have

Required Qualifications:

Bachelor of Science in Computer Science or related fields10+ years of experience with enterprise level administration and support10+ years of experience in troubleshooting and providing support to .NET/.NET Core Production applicationsStrong coaching and mentoring experience to build and sustain high performing teamProficiency in managing multiple priorities in a dynamic, geographically dispersed environmentCloud architecture (private & public): Proven design/operation of distributed systems on private cloud and at least one public cloud (Azure/AWS/GCPGCPVPC/VNet, IAMIAMontainers/Kubernetes, service mesh, messaging/streaming, secrets management, cost aware architecturesApplied AI in software delivery: Practical experience integrating AI into products/platforms (e.g., intelligent services, retrieval pipelines, model driven features) with strong grounding in data pipelines, model lifecycle, inference performance, and guardrailsDevOps/SRESREoperational excellence: CI/CD, artifact/versioning, progressive delivery, infrastructure as code, monitoring/alerting (logs, metrics, traces), capacity planning, DR, resilience testing, incident/problem managementSecurity, compliance, and standards: Working knowledge of firm cloud security controls, identity/federation, secure development standards; ability to enforce standards and file findings where needed (e.g., eGRC)Experience with Windows Server/Linux and IIS webserver administrationExperience and knowledge of SQLSQLtabase systems, MongoDB/Aerospike is a plusExperience with logging/application monitoring tools (AppDynamics, Splunk, DataDog, Grafana etc.)Experience with large scale distributed systems and high-availability architecturesKnowledge of one or more of Message Brokers such as Kafka, RabbitMQ

Preferred Qualifications:

Architecture craftsmanship: Advanced fluency with Domain Driven Design (DDD) and Clean Architecture for large distributed systems; mentor teams on bounded contexts, aggregates, and dependency inversionFinancial domain context (RPS): Retirement recordkeeping/plan configuration/transaction processing; connect engineering choices to client outcomes and regulatory expectationsExecutive communication: Concise, data backed updates (dashboards, SLAs, quality/throughput trends) suitable for senior leadership and cross functional partners
