Technical Lead (Controls Engineer)
Job Description As a Controls Engineering Lead supporting a FAANG Data Center team, you’ll play a hands-on role in the development, testing, and optimization of control systems across a variety of physical infrastructure products. You’ll assist in implementing and validating control logic for systems such as building management, power distribution, and environmental monitoring. Your work will involve collaborating with internal engineering teams and external vendors to ensure systems are commissioned correctly, operate reliably, and meet compliance standards. You’ll also contribute to documentation, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement efforts all in a support capacity without strategic ownership. Skills and Requirements · 5+ years of experience in controls engineering or industrial automation  · Proficiency with PLC programming (e.g., Siemens, Rockwell, Schneider Electric)  · Familiarity with SCADA, BMS, and HMI platforms  · Experience with industrial protocols (BACnet, Modbus, OPC UA)  · Strong troubleshooting and commissioning skills  · Ability to work cross-functionally with engineering and operations teams  · Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Automation Engineering · Experience supporting data center infrastructure or mission-critical systems  · Familiarity with Google’s internal tools (e.g., PLX, Issue Tracker)  · Prior contractor experience in large-scale tech environments  · Experience in Project/Program Management Understanding of compliance and safety standards in industrial settings
