Technical Lead - Client Apps Packager

Primary Purpose of the Role:

The Applications Packager is responsible for the creation, testing, transfer, and management of software packages for enterprise environments.

This role involves preparing applications for distribution, ensuring compatibility with standard desktop environments, maintaining package updates, and supporting deployment processes.

Principal Relationships:

Primary - UKIS Client Apps Squad

Other UKIS Squads – Endpoint, CIAMSO, Software Licensing

Application Vendors and 3rd Party Support Management

Key Responsibilities and Tasks:

Working individually and as part of a wider team to package, test, transfer and document client applications for UKIS.

Working closely with UKIS Client Apps Squad to ensure clear understanding and consistent delivery of high-quality apps packages

Package apps in line with standards set by UKIS

Work according to priorities set by the UKIS team, and advising of any limitations or issues

Rework/reconfigure existing packages

Create application packages suitable for use on windows OS thick and virtual clients.

Developing documentation for software and customizations including user guides, installation guides, and end user work instructions.

Skills/Experience: 8 to 12 Years

Essential

Experience with Admin Studio/InstallShield

Experience with all installer type e.g. .exe, .msi, .msp, .cab etc.

Experience with PowerShell scripting

Experience with PSADT

Application troubleshooting ability

Experience of installing, configuring and supporting applications packages for windows OS

Writing concise technical documentation including illustrations and config

Understanding of application databases, licences and hardware dependencies

Understanding of application re-requisites e.g. java, .NET

Familiarity Desirable with Omnissa App Volumes and Dynamic Environment Manager

Familiarity with vSphere

Work collaboratively with global team

Knowledge of SCCM

Experience using service management and agile collaboration tools e.g. ServiceNow, Jira, Confluence etc.

Soft Skills

Ability to learn and adapt to new tools and technologies

Ability to understand and translate requirements into technical solutions

Efficiency in diagnosing and resolving software and application issues

Communicating effectively with both technical and non-technical teams

Working collaboratively within cross-functional teams

Ability to manage competing priorities and workloads

Fluent in English
