You Are:

UST is seeking a Technical Lead with deep expertise in the Ab Initio suite to oversee and drive a critical Ab Initio upgrade project for one of the leading healthcare providers in the U.S. The ideal candidate will lead technical teams in upgrading and modernizing an enterprise ETL platform built on Ab Initio, ensuring performance, stability, and long-term scalability.

 

The opportunity:

·       As the Ab Initio Upgrade Technical Lead, you will:

•                     Lead the Ab Initio Upgrade:

·       Drive the technical planning, design, and implementation of the Ab Initio platform upgrade (GDE, Co>Op, EME, Control Center, MDH, etc.).

•                     Architecture & Design:

·       Design and validate the target-state architecture post-upgrade, ensuring compatibility, scalability, and compliance with security and performance standards.

•                     Technical Oversight:

·       Assess and analyze existing code and infrastructure for upgrade compatibility.

·       Identify deprecated or incompatible components and lead re-engineering efforts.

·       Define upgrade sequencing, rollback plans, and post-deployment validation strategies.

•                     Hands-on Development & Optimization:

·       Lead development and refactoring of Ab Initio graphs and components as needed during the upgrade process.

•                     Testing & Validation:

·       Oversee regression, integration, and performance testing during and post-upgrade to ensure platform stability.

•                     Documentation & Knowledge Sharing:

·       Maintain detailed documentation of upgrade processes, configurations, and design changes. Mentor and guide junior developers and ensure knowledge transfer.

•                     Stakeholder Collaboration:

·       Partner with data architects, infrastructure teams, QA, and business stakeholders to align on goals and ensure successful delivery.

 

This position description identifies the responsibilities and tasks typically associated with the performance of the position. Other relevant essential functions may be required.

 

What you need:

·       Direct experience with Ab Initio version upgrades, including:

·       Environment compatibility assessments

·       Upgrade planning, rollback strategies, and phased deployments

·       EME migration and metadata integrity validation

·       Refactoring graphs for deprecated components

·       Handling version conflicts in GDE and Co>Op

·       Strong background in shell scripting (UNIX/Linux) for automation and environment setup.

·       Experience with Control-M or other enterprise scheduling tools.

·       Deep understanding of data lineage, metadata management, and dependency tracking using Ab Initio toolsets.

·       Data Integration & Warehousing:

·       Proficient in DB2 and PostgreSQL databases.

·       Solid understanding of ETL patterns, data quality, and performance tuning.

·       Experience designing and optimizing end-to-end data pipelines in a high-volume environment.

·       SDLC & DevOps:

·       Solid grasp of Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) and CI/CD pipelines in a data environment.

·       Familiarity with version control tools and deployment best practices.

·       Skilled in preparing high- and low-level technical designs

·       Preferred Qualifications:

·       Experience in U.S. healthcare domain, including claims processing, enrollments, and provider data.

·       Hands-on experience with PHI/PII data handling and compliance (HIPAA, SOC2, etc.).

·       Familiarity with business intelligence tools like Cognos, Tableau, or Power BI.

·       Awareness of security standards in data handling.

·       Qualifications:

·       Preferred: master’s degree in computer science or a related field.

·       Required: bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related field.

 

 

Compensation can differ depending on factors including but not limited to the specific office location, role, skill set, education, and level of experience. UST provides a reasonable range of compensation for roles that may be hired in various U.S. markets as set forth below.

Role Location: Remote

Compensation Range: $82,000-$123,000

 

 

 

Benefits

Full-time, regular employees accrue a minimum of 10 days of paid vacation per year, receive 6 days of paid sick leave each year (pro-rated for new hires throughout the year), 10 paid holidays, and are eligible for paid bereavement leave and jury duty. They are eligible to participate in the Company’s 401(k) Retirement Plan with employer matching. They and their dependents residing in the US are eligible for medical, dental, and vision insurance, as well as the following Company-paid Employee Only benefits: basic life insurance, accidental death and disability insurance, and short- and long-term disability benefits. Regular employees may purchase additional voluntary short-term disability benefits, and participate in a Health Savings Account (HSA) as well as a Flexible Spending Account (FSA) for healthcare, dependent child care, and/or commuting expenses as allowable under IRS guidelines. Benefits offerings vary in Puerto Rico.

All US employees who work in a state or locality with more generous paid sick leave benefits than specified here will receive the benefit of those sick leave laws.
