Job Description

This role will be responsible for ensuring the correct US GAAP and IFRS accounting treatment for all lease agreements (real estate, operating and finance).  This role will support the business for forecasts, budgets and analysis relating to leases. They will also be responsible for ensuring that we maximise the potential from our existing underlying systems (Oracle, CoStar and BlackLine) and consistently evolve to embrace new technology. In addition, the role will be responsible for ensuring all processes are in adherence to AECOM policy and procedures and compliant with relevant SOX narratives and controls. This role will report into the ‘Manager, Lease Accounting - GBS’.

Responsibilities & Duties

Lease Management, Technical Accounting and Financial Reporting

Ensure close process, month end review and flux analysis for leases is completed on a timely basis.Oversee the monthly reconciliation process to ensure the completeness and accuracy of the financial statements.Preparation of leases reporting to Corporate on a monthly and quarterly basis.Ensure the accuracy and completeness of abstracted lease records within CoStar, global leasing system.Propose accounting for new and modified lease contracts including classification testing.Prepare quarterly review of leases for impairment triggers, analysis and record entries as required.Ensure accuracy of recorded other related real estate costs (e.g. service charges, utilities, business rates, dilapidations).Support Finance and Operations providing accurate and timely reports and ad-hoc analysis to aid decision making.Preparation of lease disclosures for 10K/10Q.Preparation of statutory accounts disclosures for multiple legal entities.

Auditing and Compliance Monitoring

Liaise with internal and external auditors and ensure compliance with relevant local regulatory requirements.Ensure compliance with lease related SOX narratives and control documentation.Participate in self-testing program to proactively identify and remediate control gaps before audits.

Continuous Improvement

Identify and implement changes that generate efficiencies and foster a culture of continuous improvement.Ensure existing systems (Oracle, CoStar, BlackLine) are optimised and identify new technology opportunities.Deliver on internal KPI’s and customer focused SLA’s to deliver a best in class leases accounting service

Qualifications

Qualifications & Requirements

Minimum Requirements:

CPA or equivalent professional accounting qualification.Minimum 5 years of Leases experience, with at least 2 years in a global organization. Strong technical accounting knowledge with focus on US GAAP and IFRS for leases.Experience in SOX and operational compliance in shared services.Strong communication (English language), and stakeholder management skills.Demonstrated success in cross-cultural, virtual team environments.
