ARA is seeking a Technical Intern to join our team for the summer. We are a 100% employee-owned scientific research and engineering company dedicated to solving critical national problems to improve our safety, security, and way of life. This position requires you to work on-site in the HSI Forensic Laboratory office located in McLean, Virginia. You will assist our team with on-site testing of our deployed software and workflow processes. This job will be in person at the McLean, VA HSI-FL office.

The internship is available for qualified undergraduate or graduate student studying towards a career in software development. Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.

What We Do

Our software development projects involve:

Designing, developing, and debugging applications in C#, Java, or JavaScript Frontend frameworks such as React, Angular, or Vue Performing code analysis and review Designing and implementing graphical user interfaces Unit testing Documenting software functionality Software support after release

 

Basic Qualifications

Pursuing a Bachelor of Science or higher in Computer Science or related field Some knowledge (or relevant coursework) of agile development methods Some knowledge (or relevant coursework) of C#, Java, or JavaScript Solid oral and written communication skills Ability to work effectively in small team settings

 

Preferred Qualifications

Familiarity with relational databases and SQL Experience (or relevant coursework) with a frontend framework (React, Angular, or Vue) Understanding of responsive web design Experience (or relevant coursework) with AWS services
