Job Description

AECOM US+LATAM Energy practice is expanding our operations leadership team and is seeking candidates to lead our Engineering teams in our Industrial and Generation department.  This leadership role will be responsible for: overseeing and developing the department’s engineering capabilities in alignment with business needs, serving as the key liaison between the technical and business development activities, and providing strategic vision to improve the I&G department’s technical resources by identifying strategic hires and implementing continuous improvement techniques to increase efficient execution of work assignments in accordance with AECOM Quality and Safety standards.   

Responsibilities of the role includes, but not limited to:

Business Planning/BudgetingProvides input to I&G Director for annual budgets and business planning, staff utilization, department resource needs (hardware/software needs, strategic investments) and other anticipated indirect expenses (training, seminars, conference attendance)Works with Team Leaders and I&G Leadership to anticipate future resource and staff needs to optimize the department staff utilization, including incorporation of value Engineering Centers in project staff planningFinancial ManagementWorks in collaboration with stakeholders (typically Capture Manager, Team Leads and I&G Leadership) to review and approve labor cost estimatesEstablishes and Manages indirect costs associated with I&G Technical department.Resource ManagementWork with Team Leaders to identify and provide resources for respective teamsSupports Team Leaders in acquiring and managing assets (hardware, software, field equipment, etc.)Supports Team Leaders in hiring and retaining staffWorks with Capture Manager when needed to develop competitive staffing plans in support of proposed projects, maximizing use of value Engineering Centers when possibleWorks with Team Leaders and Project Managers to ensure appropriate staffing plans and resources are in place for support of projectsDevelops, maintains and reports to I&G Leadership staffing/utilization trends and forecast as part of proactive resource managementAssists Team Leaders in interfacing with Human Resources to resolve conflicts on performance or resource related issues and implementing any required disciplinary actionsCareer DevelopmentTrains and mentors Team Leaders and staffConducts performance reviews of Team LeadersWorks with Team Leaders to build team member confidence and encouraging “stretch assignments” for a part of staff development.Quality ManagementEstablishes department standards and work processes consistent with AECOM standards, and ensures implementationLeads continuous improvement efforts to increase efficiency and functionality of departmentWorks with Team Leaders to manage Department staff’s compliance with department, business line and corporate work processesEnsures project activities are in compliance with accepted engineering practices and in compliance with the applicable States’ Engineering Board rules and guidelinesLeads post-project benchmarking review to identify and share lessons learned with an aim towards  improving efficiency and consistency in execution for future projects.General Management/AdministrationCommunicates with staff at team and individual level to ensure corporate, office and department information is known and understoodWorks with Team Leaders to promote and ensure a safe work environmentReviews and approves timesheets of Team Leaders

 

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements

BA/BS + 10 years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education, including 2 years of leadership10 years of relevant engineering experience within industrial, refineries and/or power facilitiesProfessional Engineer (P.E.) license

Preferred Qualifications

5+ years experience in team supervision7+ years as technical lead on industrial or power generation projectsPhysical design experience for industrial facilitiesDemonstrated experience in planning and coordinating engineering and design for complex, multi-discipline programs/projects and teamsDemonstrated experience in work process standardization and continuous improvement of engineering work product developmentDemonstrated experience in resource planning (labor forecasting, hiring, staff planning, labor cost estimating)Experience in supporting business development activities, including proposal work scope development and contributing in prospective client meetings and presentations when neededPassion in developing talented technical teamsExperience on full EPC, Design/Build projects from start to finish.Experience in workshare with international engineering resource centersField construction support and commissioning experienceSuccessful experience working in remote and multi-discipline teamsExpert familiarity with industry codes and standards in their respective disciplineFamiliarity with engineering analysis software (ETAP, SKM, EasyPower, STAAD, Fathom, Caesar)Experience working in collaborative 3D model environments (e.g. Plant 3D, Navisworks) and laser scan data
