Job Description
What you’ll doServe as the technical leader for your SRE pod, actively contributing to sprints through coding, code reviews, and test writing.
Manage impediments, protect sprint goals, and ensure effective breakdown of requirements into actionable technical tasks.
Own the technical design for team deliverables and act as the primary point of contact for technical issues.
Report on team and individual performance to leadership, and mentor team members.
Oversee production deployments, upgrades, and support, including participation in on-call rotations.
Ensure timely triage and remediation of bugs and security issues, maintaining high compliance and reliability standards.
Collaborate with development teams to troubleshoot, solve problems, and reduce customer impact.
Develop automated runbooks, implement proactive measures, and apply mature engineering principles to optimize systems and eliminate toil.
Document and analyze incidents to drive continuous process improvement.
Stay current with industry trends and best practices in site reliability engineering.

What you’ll bringRequired
Demonstrated ability to embrace AI and apply it to your current role as well as data-driven insights to drive innovation, productivity, and continuous improvement.
Deep expertise in building, deploying, and running scalable and reliable infrastructure within AWS and Kubernetes ecosystems.
Strong proficiency with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform and GitOps principles.
Strong software engineering foundation with architectural knowledge of systems built in Go, Python, or Java.
Experience building and supporting microservices, leveraging frameworks like Spring Framework and React.
Proven experience leveraging modern observability and APM tools, with a strong preference for Datadog (monitoring, dashboards, synthetics, etc).
Experience overseeing CI/CD strategy and pipelines using tools such as Jenkins, TeamCity, or GitHub Actions.
Strong understanding of cloud networking, security, role-based access control (RBAC), and vulnerability management.
Strong coding skills and experience with automation, monitoring, and incident management in cloud environments.
Excellent problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills.
Ability to mentor and develop team members, fostering a culture of learning and innovation.
Experience with agile methodologies and a commitment to operational excellence.
Strong understanding of security, compliance, and reliability best practices.
Ability to manage multiple priorities and drive outcomes in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent experience.
Experience with large-scale distributed systems, cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP), and infrastructure as code.
AWS and/or Kubernetes certifications.
Interest or experience in emerging technologies like agentic AI/LLMs related to SRE practices.
Familiarity with Guidewire’s technology stack or the insurance technology domain is a plus.
