Team Leader / Senior Analyst Job Locations UK-Flintshire-Deeside ID 2025-16797 Overview

Element has an exciting opportunity for a TEAM LEADER / SENIOR ANALYST at their busy Inorganics laboratory in Deeside. Your duties will include organizing the day-to-day operations of the laboratory in collaboration with the Department and/or Operations Manager. Duties will also include analyzing environmental samples using the various analytical testing methods associated with the laboratory, including discreet analyzer, Robotic titrosamplers, continuous flow analyzers and Ion Chromatography whilst following established methods and ensuring all quality criteria is met, and adhered too. Working hours will be 12-8pm Monday to Friday, this shift comes with an additional allowance.

 

Element Deeside is the largest analytical chemistry laboratory within the Element Group and the market leading UK laboratory undertaking the testing of soils, waters, wastes, oils, NAPLs, ambient air, soil vapours and gases from all over the world.  The laboratory undertakes high volume routine analysis as well as offering bespoke method development, technical support and hydrocarbon forensic interpretations to enhance the support we can deliver.  The laboratory has an international reputation for service excellence and supports clients that require a higher level of technical expertise, reliability in data quality and seamless project management from sample collection to timely delivery of data in the format of choice.

Responsibilities Preparing standards for calibration and quality checksUndertaking analysis and reporting results within required timeframes Assisting in instrument and method validationEnsuring all analytical procedures comply with accredited methodsEnsuring adherence to good lab practice and housekeeping at all timesInstrument calibration, maintenance and troubleshootingEnsuring a continual supply of lab consumables by monitoring stock levels and placing ordersDealing with the day-to-day operational aspects of the departmentCarrying out regular 1:1 with team members, setting OKRs & SMART targets for their continuous growth. Effectivelycoaching and mentoring the teamUndertake client queries and non-conformances as well as other quality related tasksStrive for continuous improvement in the relationship between work volumes and manpower costsPromoting compliance with company health and safety requirements, adopting a proactive safety attitude to ensure the safety of all colleaguesAdditional responsibilities – Business unit key holder

 

Skills / Qualifications Degree qualification in Chemistry or Maths preferableA ‘levels in Chemistry and other science and maths subjects preferable, although alternative qualifications will be considered, depending on relevant experienceExperience within a commercial analytical laboratory ideally with more than 4 years’ experienceCompetence and experience working with analytical instrumentationA highly motivated and organized individual, who is a team playerExcellent attention to detail Positive attitude with a keen work ethos
