Team Leader - Optician - Full time - Southfield

GENERAL SUMMARY:

 

Responsible for ensuring the design, measuring, fitting and adapting lenses and frames for patients are according to written optical prescription or specification.  Acts as a resource to other Opticians.

 

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

·      Responsible for preparing and adjusting the monthly staff schedule for Opticians.

·      Writes and maintains a duty log for the team.  Reviews errors and develops process improvements.  

·      In consultation with Manager or General Manager, coaches and mentors staff, ensuring all team members adhere to processes and policies.  

·      Sets goals for team members. Encourages team members to meet goals and maintain a superior customer service outcome.

·      Meets on a regular basis with other Team Leaders to ensure beneficial communication with other departments. Works closely with Managers in all aspects of the department.

·      Monitors frames and sales floor presentation and ensures a guest-ready sales floor.  Oversees sales promotions and contests.  

·      Design, measure, fit and adapt lenses and frames for patients according to written optical prescription or specification.

·      Assist patient with selecting frames. 

·      Measure patient for size of eyeglasses and coordinate frames with facial and eye measurements and optical prescription.

·      Adhere to the EARN process (engage, ask, recommend, nourish) selling technique.

·      Prepare work orders for optical laboratory.

·      Adjust frame and lens position to fit patient.  May shape or reshape frames.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED: 

Requires high school diploma or GEDOptical experience and knowledge requiredBasic math and computer skills requiredMust be able to multi-task Prior leadership experience preferredPrevious retail or hospitality experience preferredMust have the ability to stand and walk for long periods of time and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 poundsCompletion of all required training courses as dictated by Henry Ford OptimEyesMust be professional, courteous and a team playerMust meet or exceed core customer service responsibilities, standards and behaviors as outlined in the HFHS’ Customer Service PolicyMust practice the customer skills as provided through on-going training and in-services.

 

WORKING CONDITIONS:

 

Works in a retail optical environment.  Requires evening and weekend hours.
