Job Context 

Red Stripe, a HEINEKEN operating company [Opco] has set a four year ambition of doubling the business and to become the most admired company in Jamaica. This will be realized by significantly growing the top line by accelerating the domestic growth, improving the innovation rate, while proactively reducing the organization cost base, thereby creating a more competitive business unit. The business has recently implemented a new domestic route to market in partnership with Pepsi Cola Jamaica via a 50/50 Joint Venture with the aim of leveraging scale, improving service to customers and driving logistics excellence. 

Supply Chain operation plays a pivotal role in the Opcos mission by delivering Manufacturing and Logistics excellence through the management of cost resulting in measurable improvements in productivity, customer service, quality, plant reliability and the establishment of a sustainable local raw material [LRM] Supply chain. The Opco produces ~ 800,000 hL of alcoholic and non-alcoholic brands for domestic and export markets.

The Finished Goods department has full accountability for the cost-effective storage, management and delivery performance of all locally produced and imported inventoried finished products from plant to the first paying customers (domestic and export).   Achieving a greater than 90% Perfect Customer Order per market/channel is the nucleus of this departments existence.

Job Purpose

Responsible for the efficient day-to- day operation of the Finished Goods Warehouse to ensure that delivery targets are met for all export and domestic customers to consistently achieve Perfect Customer Order of greater than 85% as our volumes and customer base expands.  While adhering to all inventory, safety and quality standards, through effective supervision of warehouse personnel and drivers, The Team Leader is also expected to ensure compliance to procedures and policies, maintenance of operating records and implementation of warehouse action plans.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

Key Activities

Delivery Services Performance

Fulfilment (On-time, In-full, No Error) of orders received for both export and domestic customers as per Service Level Agreements (SLA’s) throughout the respective order-to-cash (OTC) process, whilst satisfying the respective customers’ delivery requirements (pallet configuration, delivery dates and times et. al); ensuring the accurate and timely completion and submission of all relevant documentations; and, investigates, resolves and update the relevant parties regarding delivery status, queries and logistics complaints.

Complaint Management

All complaints must be received and managed to resolution with strict adherence to the Consumer/Customer Complaints Management Process.

Inventory Management

Manages the inventory through:

Thorough cycle counts and stock counts as per established frequencies; and, account for Ullages (warehouses and CBL) as well as slow moving inventory and soon to be expired stocks to reduce the financial impact on the business.

 

Timely and accurate completion of transactions in SAP (goods receipts, goods issues, transfers/STO’s and invoicing) in accordance to the department’s standard operating procedures.

 

Correct dispatching of all products ensuring the highest quality standard, market specification, adherence to the First-in First-out (FIFO) picking strategy and Heineken Freshness Policy. Fully embrace and execute activities in conjunction with the company’s Food Safety Management System, Excise and Customs regulations. Ensures conformance to MSDS of inventory materials stored Initiate the retrieval of empties from the CBL distribution centres island wide.

Warehouse Management

Monitors and maintains House Keeping Standards in accordance to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and Heinekens Warehousing Standards.

Implement and maintains 5S standard as a core part of all warehousing activities.

 

Assesses and initiates and implements corrective measures to ensure that all warehouses capacity is being optimized, on a daily basis, from a storage/space utilization standpoint to facilitate optimal production runs.

Fleet Management

Optimal utilization of fleets (Trailers, Trailer Heads and MHE) assigned to the department ensuring all are in operable and safe conditions before they are injected into the operation.   Document and communicate defective units to the Transportation Service Provider, ensures units are repaired in a timely manner and re-injected into the fleet to avoid adverse impact on our delivery performance. 

Audit the conditions of the trailers being utilized to ensure that products are being transported in accordance to ISO and Food Safety Standards

Process Control

Ensure compliance to processes and standards governing all Outbound Logistics activities.  Embed CARM and GAR principles while ensuring that documented processes and procedures are consistently adhered to by direct reports.  Flag up gaps identified in processes to Outbound Logistics Manager and make recommendation(s) for improvement.

Ensure adherence to the Heineken Code of Business Conduct (COBC).

Teambuilding & Coaching

Coaches, mentors and measures performance of all direct reports and conducts performance conversation on an ongoing basis.

Safety, Health and Environment and Quality

Ensures that the Heineken Life Saving Rules are fully adhered to and embedded into the day to day warehousing activities performed by direct reports.  Support the Outbound Logistics Manager in delivering the department’s SHE agenda while ensuring full adherence and compliance by all direct reports, contractors and visitors to the department.  Ensures accurate capturing of data and support of the departments Aspect & Impact, HACCP, Food Safety Management Systems and CT-PAT protocols.

Trade, Customs and Excise Laws

Develop, improve and maintain relationships with Customs, Excise and other Trade regulatory bodies to ensure compliance to local and international laws governing the storage and movement of goods for sale and or disposal (domestic and export).

Service Provider Management

Assesses third party service providers performance against the relevant Service Level Agreements (SLA’s)

Operational Excellence

Drives a culture of continuous improvement and early adaptation to changes throughout the operation.  Timely and accurate submission of reports and data required to drive operational performance and performs root cause problem solving (RCPS) for instances where there are inconsistencies.

Support the successful completion and or implementation of projects (where applicable).

Cost Awareness and Budget Responsibilities

Support the management of the Outbound Logistics budget by ensuring efficient and effective execution of the day to day warehousing activities at minimal cost.  Initiate discussions with Line Manager and champion transactions, within scope, that will result in cost avoidance.

Number of direct/ indirect reports:

Manages a team of 5 (minimum) to  20 (maximum) contractors while on shift

Inventory Management

Realization of inventory accuracy as per the below:

              Export – 95%;   Domestic – 80%; Commercial 95%

Zero write-off due to poor stock rotation Full adherence to First in First Out Picking Strategy and Heinekens Freshness Policy Minimal write-off of warehouse Ullages (damages) – must fall within monthly budgeted allotment. Full conformance to MSDS Sufficient stocks of empties (returnable materials) retrieved from CBL DC’s to support effective sorting operations and production runs and little or no congestion in the DC’s facilities.

Warehouse Management

Full utilization of storage space by the overflow warehouse; visibility of 5S standards throughout the operation; excellent storage and housekeeping practices which supports the company’s food safety agenda.

Fleet Management

Safe and operable MHE, trailers and trailer heads being used at all times.

Optimal turns in Trailers, full utilization of Trailer Heads i.e. no trailer head should be parked for extended (more than four hours) on a regular business day.  Exemption to this are:

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Logistics and Supply Chain Management or Operations Management Professional qualifications: Inventory Management Certification

Experience requirements:

Three (3) to five (5) years’ experience in a warehousing, sales or logistics environment. At least two (2) Supervisory experience In-depth knowledge of inventory management and warehousing standards Working knowledge of SAP, competent in manipulating Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word and PowerPoint Knowledge of Trade, Customs and Excise Regulations
