Position Title: Team Lead – Registration Specialist
Schedule: Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM
Location: West Hospital
Certification Required: CMAA (Certified Medical Administrative Assistant) Candidates will not be considered without this certification.
The Team Lead – Registration Specialist provides functional guidance to support staff and performs the duties of a Registration Specialist in alignment with organizational standards. This role oversees patient flow from entry to destination, ensuring timely, accurate, and professional service.
Key responsibilities include:
Collecting accurate financial and demographic information to support reimbursement and clinical outcomes.
Scheduling appointments, interviewing patients, explaining charges and policies, validating and entering charges, and collecting payments.
Answering incoming calls and directing patients and visitors appropriately.
Precepting current Registration Specialists as requested by leadership.
Performing higher-level functions as defined by clinic management.
Participating in annual Rapid Improvement Events and/or Quality Improvement projects.
Conducting monthly rounding.
Coaching, mentoring, and developing the Registration team.
Qualifications:Education: High School Diploma or GED required.
Experience: Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in a healthcare setting.
Preferred: Coding experience.
Leadership Development: Must complete Foundations of Leadership within 6 months of assuming the role or have completed the Emerging Leaders program.
Certification: CMAA certification is required.
Note: Individuals currently in the Team Lead – Registration Specialist role at the time of career ladder implementation will be prioritized for certification exam cohorts. Certification must be achieved within one year. Failure to do so may result in reassignment to a different Registration Specialist role, potentially with a pay adjustment.
