people in townsPOSITION SUMMARYPerform a variety of security and safety related functions while involved in the safeguarding of employees patients visitors physicians and property Provides supervision leadership and oversight for assigned shift Coordinates with the Lieutenant to resolve shift patrol routes employee issues and schedulingCOMPETENCIESMust be able to read speak and write proficiently in English in order to effectively communicate on a daily basis with staff patients and visitorsMust be in good physical condition in order to quickly move up and down stairs run in order to respond to urgent situations stand for long periods and walk long roundsMust be capable of taking swift and efficient action forcibly detaining restraining andor extracting persons from the premises when responding to emergency codes or other urgent situationsMust be alert and have excellent observation skillsMust have good communication and analytical abilities and ability to exercise independent judgement in emergency situationsMust possess a working knowledge of applicable state laws especially those dealing with use of force and detention powersMust have a thorough knowledge of the floor plan of the hospital including all the normal and emergency entry and exit pointsMust have knowledge about Hospital and departmental policies and procedures performing and enforcing said policies and accredited institution in Criminal Justice or a related fieldMust possess and maintain a valid driverrsquos license maintain a driving record free of any violations and pass a safe driving educational program upon hire and annually thereafter in order to be eligible to participate in the Fleet Vehicle Program Environment of Care Safety Policies and Procedures Must possess a current Connecticut Security Officer Identification CardMust be trained in PMT and de escalation techniques as prescribed by HHCEXPERIENCEA minimum of five years of previous security or security related experience such
