Our client, an educational organization dedicated to fostering academic and social success, is seeking a Teaching Assistant to join their team. As a Teaching Assistant, you will be part of the South Bronx Job Corps supporting students in their educational journey. The ideal candidate will demonstrate patience, strong communication skills, and a passion for helping students succeed, which will align successfully in the organization.
Job Title: Teaching Assistant
Location: Bronx, NY
Pay Range: $30
Shift: Monday - Friday 7:30 am - 4:30 pm (1 hour lunch)
What's the Job?
Accurately take and maintain attendance records for all students. Oversee young adults in the classroom to ensure their safety and engagement during lessons and activities. Assist students with limited English proficiency by providing clear translations and explanations of classroom materials and instructions. Work closely with the classroom teacher to implement lesson plans and support the class's educational goals. Promote positive behavior among students and address any issues that arise in a constructive manner.What's Needed?
Previous experience working with young adults in an educational or mentoring capacity. Proficiency in English and at least one other language (preferably the language spoken by the students needing translation). Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively with students, teachers, and staff. Patience, empathy, and a passion for helping students succeed academically and socially.
