Teacher Mentor (Special Funded) - $35/hr for 20 hours per week
WHAT: Mentoring 2 teachers, must spend 4 hrs at a time on campus, flexible schedule to be determined by Human Resource and Texas State Partnership
Title: Mentor Teacher
Qualifications:
Certified Teacher with at least three years of teaching experience Must have received a proficient rating or higher on the last three years of T-Tess evaluations Proficient in classroom management, organization, lesson planning and implementation, and assessment Willing to communicate regularly with the mentee and administration to facilitate ongoing support Must complete training with the Texas State University Willing and enthusiastic to work with other teachers
Reports to: Campus Principal; Human Resources Administration
Supports: Classroom teacher with less than 2 years of teaching experience
Job Goal: To provide transitional assistance to teachers so that they are comfortable and confident in fulfilling their teaching responsibilities. Consistent with the support role, the mentor will provide instructional assistance, counseling, and general guidance.
Performance Responsibilities:
Provide systems information related to procedures, guidelines, and expectations of thecampus/district.
Help, collect, disseminate, or locate materials and resources to mentees. Provide information about curriculum content and instructional strategies. Provide guidance and ideas related to classroom management and establishing a positive classroomenvironment.
Arrange for observations and collaborative conferences to provide feedback and sharing ofexperiences.
Provide guidance and support related to conferencing with parents. Serve as a role model and overall source of support for the mentee. Attend district and/or campus in-services on orientation of the program, including district and state-mandated procedures and policies. Assist with preparation for T-TESS goal-setting and observations. Meet with mentees for a combined time of 20 hours per week.
REQUIREMENTS: Teacher Certification and 3 years teaching experience
BASIC FUNCTION & RESPONSIBILITY:
1.Participate in the training program offered by TXST.
2.Schedule weekly support meetings with assigned Teacher Fellows during the
period of the Teacher Fellows' induction year.
Provide support to assigned Teacher Fellows as prescribed by the TeacherFellows program.
Be an integral part of the classroom for assigned Teacher Fellows for thepurpose of providing professional support and mentoring.
Provide professional support, guidance, and mentoring to the Teacher Fellows inthe areas of instructional strategies, classroom management, curriculum
development, district and building policies, learning resources, and other areas of
concern to the Teacher Fellow.

Instructional Management:
Work collaboratively with other members of staff to determine instructional goals, objectives, and methods according to District requirements, including engagement in Response to Intervention, Language Proficiency Assessment Committee, Section 504 Committee, Admission, Review, and Dismissal Committee meetings.Use appropriate instructional and learning strategies, activities, materials, and equipment that reflect an understanding of the learning styles and needs of students assigned. Use effective communication skills to present information accurately and clearly. Support and participate in meeting the objectives of the campus/department improvement plans. Support the implementation of instruction in accordance with Bastrop ISD approved curriculum and required resources.
Professional Growth and Development:
Participate in professional development activities to improve job-related skills that are aligned with campus and program-specific needs. Attend and participate in faculty meetings and serve on staff committees, as required.Other Responsibilities:
