Position Overview
The Teacher for the Visually Impaired (TVI) provides students with appropriate learning experiences and instructional support designed to promote social, intellectual, and emotional growth. This role organizes and implements instructional programs for students with visual impairments, enabling them to develop competencies and skills necessary for successful and positive functioning.

+ Start Date: Estimated March 1, 2026
+ End Date: Remainder of the 2025–2026 school year
+ Extension Opportunity: Likely extension for the following school year
+ Schedule: Monday–Friday
+ Hours per Week: 37.5
+ Work Hours: School hours
+ Pay Rate:
+ $50/hour, or
+ $2,000/week travel pay (if tax residence is outside a 50-mile radius)
+ Modality: In Person
+ Employment Type: Full-Time

+ Travel Requirement: District-wide float
Classroom & Caseload Details
+ Grade Levels: All grade levels
+ Service Model: Itinerant / support-based
+ Caseload: Approximately 40–50 students
+ Only 3 students require services multiple times per week
+ Classroom Support: Orientation & Mobility (O&M) Specialist provided
Key Responsibilities
+ Deliver specialized instruction to students with visual impairments
+ Organize and implement instructional programs aligned with student needs
+ Support students’ academic, functional, social, and emotional development
+ Collaborate with related service providers and educational staff
+ Maintain documentation and compliance with federal, state, and local requirements
Requirements
+ Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university (preferred)
+ Valid state teaching certificate as required by state regulations
+ Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI) certification required
+ Experience working as a TVI (preferred)
+ Current CPR certification (if applicable)
+ TB Questionnaire, PPD, or chest X-ray (if applicable)
+ Current health certificate per state or contract regulations
+ Must meet all federal, state, and local requirements
+ Must be at least 18 years of age
