Teacher for the Visually Impaired
Location: House Springs, MO (School-Based) Schedule: Part-Time (Flexible hours based on student needs) Start Date: ASAP About the Role We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Teacher for the Visually Impaired (TVI) to provide direct and consultative services to students with visual impairments across multiple school sites. This educator will help support access to curriculum, develop functional vision skills, and collaborate with school teams to ensure each student receives appropriate accommodations and specialized instruction. Responsibilities: + Provide specialized instruction to students with visual impairments in alignment with IEP goals. + Conduct functional vision and learning media assessments. + Adapt classroom materials using braille, large print, tactile graphics, and assistive technology as appropriate. + Collaborate with general education teachers, special education teams, families, and related service providers. + Offer consultative support to staff on accommodations, accessibility, and best practices for students with visual impairments. + Maintain documentation, progress notes, and required reporting in compliance with district and state guidelines. Qualifications: + Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Education or Special Education. + Valid Missouri DESE certification as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired (or ability to obtain). + Experience with braille, assistive technology for visually impaired students, and accessible instructional materials preferred. + Strong communication, collaboration, and organizational skills.
