Salary: $1705 / Week
The Teacher for the Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing teaches deafand hard-of-hearing pupils in a classroom setting. Instructs in academicsubjects of regular curriculum or adapted curriculum to meet needs of studentpopulation.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
+ Instructional Planning and Delivery: Designs, develops, adapts, and delivers instructional plans, lessons, and materials tailored for students who are deaf or hard of hearing. This includes supporting students in general education settings, contributing to curriculum development, piloting new instructional resources, and coordinating inter-agency and intra-agency services.
+ Staff Development: Creates and implements awareness and orientation programs to support staff in understanding and meeting the needs of students who are deaf or hard of hearing.
+ Instructional Strategies: Demonstrates and applies effective teaching strategies to engage students and deliver content in accessible and meaningful ways.
+ Learning Environment: Establishes and maintains a classroom environment that fosters intellectual, physical, social, and emotional growth.
+ Classroom Management: Maintains discipline and a positive classroom climate conducive to effective learning.
+ Record Keeping: Accurately maintains attendance and grading records in accordance with board policies and administrative regulations.
+ Communication and Collaboration: Schedules and participates in conferences with parents and students to discuss academic progress and address concerns.
+ Professional Engagement: Actively participates in staff meetings, professional development opportunities, and serves on committees as needed.
+ Instructional Planning Input: Contributes to the development of instructional goals, objectives, and methodologies.
+ Additional Duties: Performs other related responsibilities as assigned, consistent with the scope and level of the position.
Minimum Requirements:
+ Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited university preferred
+ Valid state teaching certificate as required by state regulations
+ Knowledge in Sign Language and use of amplification devices for the deaf and hard-of-hearing
+ Experience with deaf and hard-of-hearing students preferred
+ ASL proficiency exam or Certification may be required per state, contract or district
+ Complies with all relevant professional standards of practice
+ Current CPR if applicable
+ TB questionnaire, PPD or chest x-ray if applicable
+ Current Health certificate (per contract or state regulation)
+ Must meet all federal, state and local requirements
+ Must be at least 18 years of age
