Teacher for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing - $45 per hour
Amergis is seeking a teacher for the Deaf and Hard-of Hearing. The Teacher for the Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing teaches deaf and hard-of-hearing pupils in a classroom setting. Instructs in academic subjects of regular curriculum or adapted curriculum to meet needs of student population. Responsibilities: Exceptional Education System-Wide Teacher of the Deaf and Hearing Impaired: Provide case management and coordinate a program of services to Deaf/Hearing-Impaired students and other IDEA eligible students. Deliver individual, direct and consultative services to students who are deaf or hearing-impaired or who have other disabilities in the least restrictive environment as required by the Individual Educational Plan (IEP). Assist general education teachers in planning differentiated instruction that meets the needs of individual students in the core curriculum. + Support educational interpreters and plan school-wide schedule for educational interpreters to support all deaf/hearing-impaired students’ schedules + Coordinate and provide programs for services to Deaf/Hearing-Impaired students + Develop a coordinated team effort for service delivery encompassing program staff, system-wide staff, parents and students + Provide in-service regarding the educational/social-emotional needs of Deaf-Hearing-Impaired students + Provide consultation and intervention strategies to staff members and parents of specific students + Assist in child find and identification of services attending all IEP meetings as deemed necessary + Initiate and maintain individualized educational plans for Deaf/Hearing-Impaired students and other IDEA eligible students, providing direct instructional services as necessary + Collaborate with parents, teachers and other specialists for the purpose of planning appropriate educational programs for all students on caseload + Collaborate with the educational audiologist for the purpose of determining the hearing auditory technology needs of students who are deaf /hearing-impaired + Evaluate personal professional growth needs and attend in-service as appropriate or purpose of remaining current with present trends instructional materials and practices + Maintain student records for the propose of compliance of state and federal laws pertaining to students with a disability requiring special education services + Perform other duties that may be assigned by supervisor QUALIFICATIONS: + Must be able to write and implement instructional appropriate IEP’s leading to positive outcomes for students with disabilities and facilitate IEP meetings. + Ability to design/write and implement transition programming for students with mild to moderate disabilities. + Conduct progress monitoring related to all IEP goals/objectives (at least 2 data points per goal each week), and place a copy in the student’s special education file, prior to midterm and 9-week progress reports. Use the data points collected to complete the midterm and 9-week progress reports sent home to parents. Know your students’ skill development and use data to adjust your teaching and drive decisions. + Case managers and service providers will use the EasyIEP Progress Monitoring Wizard to graph at least 3 data points per goal per each nine week grading period. (The only exceptions to using the EasyIEP Progress Monitoring Graphs are Speech Language Personnel, OTs, PTx, and Audiologists who use Stellar Docs for Progress Monitoring. It is understood that service personnel using Stellar Docs will also enter data on quarterly progress reports.) + Experience with administration and interpretation of standardized assessments and alternative assessments. + Good organizational skills; good communication skills to facilitate teaching, assessment, meeting and data management responsibilities such as Easy IEP. + Possess good technology skills to facilitate implementation of academic and/or behavior intervention programs and working with a wide variety of technology platforms. + Willingness to work within programming areas as a collaborative team member. + May include providing general physical assistance to students with various disabilities. Tasks will involve, but are not limited to, assisting students with toileting/feeding/other self-help and behavioral needs.
