Teacher for the Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing – $42/hr – Oklahoma City, OK – Full-time
Position Overview:
We are seeking a Teacher for the Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing to instruct students in academic subjects using regular or adapted curriculum to meet individual needs. This role includes whole-class and small-group instruction, behavior monitoring, and lesson preparation to ensure effective learning for deaf and hard-of-hearing students.
Assignment Details:
+ Location: Oklahoma City, OK
+ Start Date: ASAP – May 21, 2025
+ End Date: 5-month contract
+ Schedule: Monday–Friday
+ Hours: 37.5 hrs/week
+ Duration: 5 months
+ Pay Rate: $42/hr
+ Modality: In-person
+ Openings: 1
Responsibilities:
+ Prepare lessons and instructional materials
+ Provide whole-class and small-group instruction
+ Monitor student behavior during all activities
+ Adapt teaching methods to meet individual needs
+ Use sign language and amplification devices as needed
Requirements:
+ Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university (preferred)
+ Valid state teaching certificate
+ Knowledge of Sign Language and amplification devices
+ ASL proficiency exam or certification may be required
+ Experience with deaf and hard-of-hearing students preferred
+ Current CPR (if applicable)
+ TB questionnaire, PPD or chest X-ray (if applicable)
+ Current health certificate (per contract or state regulation)
+ Must meet all federal, state, and local requirements
+ Must be at least 18 years of age
