The Amergis Educational Services Team is currently seeking Full-Time Teacher for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing (DHH) in the North Port, Venice, Nokomis and Sarasota areas for the 2025-26 School Year.
Position Details:
Requirements: 1+ years of experience, FLDOE Deaf and Hard of Hearing (DHH) Certification
Pay: $47 per hour
Schedule: Monday-Friday (37.5 hours)
Start Date: February 2026
Length of Contract: remaining of 2025-2026 school year (high possibility of extension into the following school year)

About the Role
The Teacher for the Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing teaches deaf and hard-of-hearing pupils in a classroom setting. Instructs in academic subjects of regular curriculum or adapted curriculum to meet needs of student population.
Minimum Requirements:
+ Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited university preferred
+ Valid state teaching certificate in Florida
+ Knowledge in Sign Language and use of amplification devices for the deaf and hard-of-hearing
+ Experience with deaf and hard-of-hearing students preferred
+ ASL proficiency exam or Certification may be required per state, contract or district
+ Complies with all relevant professional standards of practice
+ Current CPR if applicable
+ TB questionnaire, PPD or chest x-ray if applicable
+ Current Health certificate (per contract or state regulation)
+ Must meet all federal, state and local requirements
+ Must be at least 18 years of age
