Tax Specialist
Job Description
The Tax Specialist is responsible for managing and supporting all aspects of an organization’s tax functions. This role requires strong proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, experience with Viewpoint (or similar) software, and a solid understanding of sales and use tax processes. The ideal candidate will demonstrate effective research skills and the ability to adapt to evolving tax regulations.
Responsibilities
Research sales and use tax laws and ensure compliance using state and local resources.Maintain accurate tax information for new projects and update records as regulations change.Oversee project master data and support new project startups.Assist in preparing and filing sales and use tax returns.Support sales and use tax audits as needed.Reconcile sales and use tax general ledger accounts monthly.Prepare and manage tax exemption certificates.Handle annual property tax bills and business license registrations.Prepare annual state filings and complete various tax-related projects as assigned.Obtain and track tax exemption certificates from customers.Address customer inquiries regarding sales and use taxes.Maintain a list of non-tax vendors and perform quarterly self-assessments of taxes.Create and manage tax filing spreadsheets for multiple states.Amend state tax returns as necessary.Update and maintain headquarters tax code listings.Post sales tax due to appropriate states for relevant transactions.Plan, complete, and implement assignments in a timely manner.Demonstrate professionalism, collaboration, and commitment to continuous improvement.Perform other related duties as assigned.Skills and Qualifications
Ability to interpret and apply sales and use tax laws.Skilled in researching state and local tax regulations using official resources.2 to 4 years of finance and tax experience, specifically in sales/use tax.Degree in Accounting.Work Environment
The work schedule for this position is between 7 AM and 5 PM, Monday to Friday. Flexibility in the schedule is necessary to accommodate various assignments and deadlines. Team members are supported with career development and continued education programs, providing opportunities for success.

Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $55000.00 - $70000.00/yr.
