Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated Tax Associate to join our team and play a vital role in providing exceptional tax-related services. This position is specifically focused on servicing a portfolio of farm entities, ensuring timely and accurate completion of income tax returns, and offering valuable tax planning and consulting services. This role is ideal for a new graduate or someone with up to three to five years of experience in the tax field.
Responsibilities
Complete timely and technically accurate income tax returns for farming operations and owners of farmland, including individuals, partnerships, C Corporations, and S Corporations.Provide tax planning and consulting services to customers, ensuring compliance with tax payments and information reporting requirements.Serve as the primary contact for tax-related services for customers.Manage time effectively to complete customer returns and planning by deadlines.Stay current on tax rules and regulations and share expertise through internal presentations and consultations.Invoice customers according to established pricing guidelines.Participate in presentations at industry events and customer meetings to promote tax expertise.Represent the association at regional industry and agricultural events.Proactively provide referrals and collaborate with teammates for cross-selling opportunities.Engage in special projects and initiatives as part of the team.Essential Skills
Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Tax, Finance, or a related business field, or equivalent work experience.Comprehensive knowledge of tax and farm accounting products, services, and regulations.Strong analytical skills with attention to detail and accuracy.Proficient in listening, verbal and written communication, and interpersonal skills.Effective sales and customer service skills.Excellent time management and organizational abilities.Additional Skills & Qualifications
CPA or EA certification is strongly encouraged.Completion or progress in completing relevant tax certifications.Experience with CCH tax software and Centerpoint farming software is advantageous.Knowledge of the agricultural industry and farm operations.Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and support the association's vision and values.Work Environment
This role is based in North Dakota, with a preference for candidates in Fargo or surrounding areas with Ag Country offices. The position offers a hybrid work option, allowing for two remote workdays per week, though candidates may need to be in the office more frequently during the busy tax season. The role includes customer meetings and requires flexibility. The initial contract is for six months, with potential for extension or long-term opportunities based on fit and interest.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $27.40 - $54.80/hr.
