Description Robert Half is looking for an experienced Tax Manager to lead and manage all aspects of sales and use tax compliance for our client's organization. This role requires a deep understanding of multi-state tax regulations, strong leadership capabilities, and a proactive approach to improving processes. The ideal candidate will ensure compliance, oversee audits, and mentor the tax team while collaborating with cross-functional departments. Responsibilities: • Manage the complete lifecycle of sales and use tax compliance, including preparation, filing, and timely payment of tax returns. • Lead and oversee tax audits, addressing inquiries from federal, state, and local authorities. • Stay updated on changes in sales and use tax laws, evaluating their impact on the organization's operations. • Develop and implement process improvements to enhance the accuracy and efficiency of tax-related workflows. • Create and maintain comprehensive tax policies, procedures, and documentation. • Collaborate with finance, operations, and IT teams to streamline systems and processes. • Train, mentor, and manage the performance of sales and use tax staff. • Coordinate with external advisors and internal teams to devise effective tax strategies and planning initiatives. For immediate consideration please apply or contact directly Steve Fields at 919-787-8226 Requirements • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; advanced degrees are advantageous. • Minimum of 5 years of experience in multi-state sales and use tax compliance. • At least 2 years of experience in supervising or managing a team. • Comprehensive knowledge of sales and use tax laws, audit procedures, and tax technology systems. • Exceptional organizational, analytical, and project management abilities. • Strong leadership and communication skills to effectively guide teams and liaise with stakeholders. • Residency in North Carolina with the ability to commute to the office 1–2 times per month.
