Tax Manager
Description We are looking for an experienced Tax Manager to oversee state and local tax compliance for our organization in Bellevue, Washington. This role is integral in ensuring regulatory adherence, optimizing tax strategies, and driving efficiency within the tax function. The ideal candidate will bring expertise in managing audits, conducting in-depth tax research, and implementing process enhancements to support the company’s growth. Responsibilities: • Ensure the accurate and timely preparation and submission of state and local tax returns, including Washington State B& O tax, sales/use tax, and other local obligations. • Oversee state and local tax audits, managing documentation, resolving issues, and coordinating with state tax authorities. • Develop and implement strategic tax initiatives to minimize tax liabilities, including exploring tax incentives and abatements across various jurisdictions. • Maintain the company’s exemption certificate process, ensuring compliance with state-specific documentation requirements. • Manage relationships with external tax consultants, ensuring deliverables align with business objectives and are cost-effective. • Identify and execute improvements to tax systems, processes, and tools to enhance efficiency and reporting accuracy. • Conduct thorough research and analysis on new tax laws, nexus studies, and business changes, offering actionable recommendations. • Collaborate with finance and business teams on projects such as acquisitions, employment tax matters, and tax minimization strategies. • Support strategic initiatives impacting the tax function, including system upgrades and process integrations. Benefits: Comprehensive Medical and Wellness Benefits + M/V/D + Life and Disability + 401(k) Plan + 21 days of annually accrued PTO + 10 paid holidays + Professional and Educational Support Opportunities Requirements • Minimum of 8 years of progressive experience in corporate tax or public accounting, with strong knowledge of Washington State tax laws. • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration; advanced degrees in related fields are preferred. • Expertise in sales/use tax, business & occupation (B& O) tax, property taxes, and exemption certificate management. • Proven experience managing audits and liaising with state tax authorities. • Familiarity with Oracle systems and proficiency in business analytics tools such as Power BI and Excel. • Demonstrated ability to lead projects, implement process improvements, and manage external consultants effectively. • Strong analytical skills paired with excellent communication and interpersonal abilities. • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining high attention to detail and accuracy.
