Job Description:
Reporting to the Tax Director, Hong Kong, the Tax Manager will support all of Sun Life’s Hong Kong operational tax compliance, reporting, and advisory needs. The Tax Manager will also be expected to support the broader Regional Tax team, particularly with our growing tax needs in Bermuda and Singapore, as well as in our Asia Asset Management business.
Responsible for preparation and filing of annual tax returns for all Sun Life’s HK based entities
Responsible for tax reporting including tax provisioning process, effective tax rate calculations, current and deferred tax accounting
Manage and monitor tax disputes or enquiries from tax authorities
Support tax risk management / compliance, including Global Minimum Tax, HKMTT, maintaining Transfer Pricing documentation, FATCA/ CRS reporting, and other tax related compliance obligations
Support FP&A and strategic/ business planning for taxes
Engage in tax research and tax advisory support to help identify, recommend, and implement tax effective solutions
Monitor and interpret changes to tax legislation and communicating tax considerations and operational/business impacts
Reporting to the Tax Director, Hong Kong, the Tax manager supports our tax operations in Hong Kong with respect to tax compliance, tax reporting and tax advisory. The Tax manager will also support the broader Regional Tax team with respect to our Asia asset management business and our growing tax operations in Bermuda and Singapore
Preferred skills
Strong knowledge of tax principles with respect to Corporate Income Tax, Value Added Tax, Withholding Tax, Transfer Pricing, International Tax and an awareness and understanding of global tax reporting regimes (FATCA, CRS, CbCR)
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, and capable of working under pressure
Strong inter-personal skills and the ability to develop strong working relationships with internal and external stakeholders
Familiarity and experience with Accounting Systems and Software is a plus
Fluent in spoken and written English
QualificationsBachelor degree holder in Accounting / Finance or equivalent
Relevant professional qualifications in accountancy
8+ years relevant tax experience gained in professional firm or multinational financial institution/ insurance companies
