Newsweek Recognizes Sedgwick as America’s Greatest Workplaces National Top Companies Certified as a Great Place to Work® Fortune Best Workplaces in Financial Services & Insurance Tax Director - Canada & Latin America **PRIMARY PURPOSE** : The Tax Director – Canada & Latin America is responsible for overseeing all tax-related activities across Canada, Latin America (including Puerto Rico), and select international matters involving U.S. entities. This role ensures compliance with local and international tax regulations, manages audits, supports strategic tax planning, and collaborates with internal and external stakeholders to optimize tax processes and reporting **ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES** Canadian Tax Oversight: + Leads and manages all aspects of Canadian tax compliance, including corporate income tax, indirect taxes (e.g., GST/HST), and withholding taxes. + Oversees the preparation, review, and timely filing of Canadian tax returns and related documentation. + Manages Canadian tax audits and inquiries, coordinating with external advisors and government authorities as needed. Latin America & Puerto Rico Tax Management: + Directs tax compliance and planning efforts across Latin American jurisdictions, including Puerto Rico. + Ensures accurate and timely filing of tax returns and reports in accordance with local regulations. + Handles tax audits and disputes, working closely with regional finance teams and external consultants. U.S. International Tax Support: + Manages international tax filings for U.S. entities, including Forms 5472 (foreign-owned U.S. corporations) and Forms 8802 (U.S. residency certification). + Collaborates with U.S. tax teams to ensure proper documentation and compliance with international reporting requirements. Transfer Pricing & Global Reporting: + Supports transfer pricing initiatives, including documentation, intercompany transaction analysis, and compliance with OECD guidelines. + Assists with Country-by-Country (CbC) reporting and Pillar Two compliance, ensuring alignment with global tax transparency standards. Tax Provision & Indirect Tax Support: + Contributes to the preparation and review of tax provisions for financial reporting purposes. + Provides guidance on U.S. sales and use tax matters, including compliance and audit support. Governance & Internal Controls: + Ensures all tax activities adhere to internal policies, procedures, and controls, including Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) compliance. + Maintains robust documentation and audits trails to support tax positions and filings. Consultant & Calendar Management: + Manages relationships with external tax advisors and consultants to ensure high-quality service and strategic guidance. + Oversees the maintenance of a comprehensive tax compliance calendar, tracking all filing deadlines and requirements across jurisdictions. **ADDITIONAL FUNCTIONS and RESPONSIBILITIES** + Performs other duties as assigned. + Travel as required. **QUALIFICATIONS** **Education & Licensing** Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field from an accredited college or university preferred.
