Tax Associate - Venture Capital
Description A leading early-stage venture capital firm investing in frontier technologies—including crypto and AI—is seeking a Finance Associate with a strong focus on tax operations. The Finance Associate will collaborate directly with senior leadership, controllers, and external advisors to manage tax compliance, fund reporting, audits, and operational processes. Key Responsibilities Tax Operations: + Oversee the full tax compliance lifecycle for multiple entities, including funds, general partners, and the management company. + Review tax documents prepared by advisors, including returns, K-1s, and foreign filings. + Validate estimated tax calculations and facilitate timely payments. + Conduct tax code research and collaborate with external advisors to ensure accuracy and compliance. + Serve as the primary liaison with tax advisors, performing independent research to confirm positions. + Respond to investor inquiries related to tax matters. + Lead ad hoc tax research projects to support strategic decision-making. Finance & Fund Operations: + Review financial reports from fund administrators and produce quarterly NAV reports. + Support the preparation and review of annual financial statements in coordination with auditors. + Monitor fund performance and investment valuations. + Participate in operational activities including accounts payable, capital calls, and distributions. + Address finance-related investor inquiries and assist with strategic projects. Requirements Qualifications + Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Tax, or related field. + Minimum 3+ years of asset management tax experience, with at least 2 years in venture capital or private equity. + CPA or equivalent credential required. + Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with excellent judgment. + Proficiency in Excel and Google Sheets. + Effective verbal and written communication skills. + Experience in tax advisory is a plus. + Interest in crypto, emerging tech, or AI is highly desirable.
