DESCRIPTION:
Join our Tax team at Thermo Fisher Scientific and contribute to managing complex tax processes across global operations. As a Tax Analyst I, you'll contribute to tax compliance activities while working with teams worldwide. This position offers growth opportunities as you support tax planning, documentation, and reporting initiatives. You'll collaborate with internal stakeholders and external partners to ensure accurate and timely tax submissions while identifying opportunities for process improvement and tax efficiency.
Position Purpose:
The Tax Analyst is responsible for ensuring full compliance with Mexican tax regulations, managing complex tax matters, and providing strategic tax support to the business. This role acts as a key point of contact for tax-related topics, supporting decision-making and risk management within a multinational environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Manage and review monthly and annual tax filings, including VAT (IVA), Income Tax (ISR), withholding taxes, and other local obligations.
Oversee the preparation and submission of DIOT, tax reconciliations, and statutory reports required by the SAT.
Ensure proper tax treatment and compliance related to CFDI issuance and validation, including coordination with Accounting and AP/AR teams.
Lead tax support for monthly and year-end close processes, including tax provisions, accruals, and reconciliations.
Act as the main tax contact for audits, tax authority inquiries, and inspections, including preparation of responses and documentation.
Identify, assess, and mitigate tax risks; propose and implement process improvements and internal controls.
Monitor changes in Mexican tax legislation and evaluate impacts on the business, providing clear guidance to stakeholders.
Support cross-functional teams (Finance, Treasury, Legal, Supply Chain) with tax analysis on business transactions.
Coordinate with external advisors and consultants, including Big Four firms.
Contribute to regional and global tax initiatives, including transfer pricing support and tax planning projects.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
3+ years of progressive experience in tax, preferably in a multinational company or Big Four.
Strong knowledge of Mexican tax law and regulations (VAT, Income Tax, CFDI, SAT requirements).
Experience with ERP systems Oracle, or similar) and advanced Excel skills.
