Position: Tax Analyst (Indirect Tax)
Reports To: Indirect Tax Manager (US-Based)
Job Summary:
VS&Co is seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Tax Analyst to join the finance team. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring that VS&Co remains compliant with its sales tax obligations and all applicable state, local, and foreign tax laws and regulations (including preparing and filing sales tax returns and providing support during audits) while also assisting with process improvements to streamline recurring calculations. This role requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently while maintaining regular communication with the U.S. tax team.
This position reports to the Indirect Tax Manager in the U.S.
The ideal candidate should have a foundational understanding of indirect tax including Goods and Services Tax (GST), Value Added Tax (VAT), sales and use tax, excellent communication skills, and the ability to manage multiple tasks with minimal oversight. Proficiency in tax tools and software like Vertex and Avalara is preferred.
Responsibilities:
Support the U.S. tax team by analyzing and organizing relevant information to support tax filing positions and responding to auditsDocument and organize state and local indirect tax audit workpapers and maintain the appropriate indirect tax records according to department policiesAssist in preparing accurate indirect tax return filingsKeep the U.S.-based manager informed of project status, challenges, and opportunitiesCompile and analyze data, records, and other documentation needed to satisfy U.S. tax audit requests and ensure complianceResearch and analyze U.S. state & local tax laws and regulations to determine applicability and provide recommendations

QualificationsQualifications:
§ Bachelor’s degree in accounting, taxation, or related discipline required
At least 2 years of experience in indirect tax experience, preferably with exposure to U.S. sales tax requiredProven ability to communicate analytic findings in a clear and concise manner to stakeholders in different time zones requiredStrong analytical and problem-solving skills requiredAbility to work independently and meet deadlines with minimal supervision requiredProficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint, and experience using tax research tools requiredExperience with data visualization tools, ETL tools (i.e. Alteryx and UiPath), or SAP Business Objects requiredExcellent written and verbal communication skills requiredCMI-Sales Tax, CPA, or equivalent requiredUnderstand the differences between GAAP and sales tax treatments of various business transactions preferredExperience using Vertex® Indirect Tax O Series® and Avalara tax compliance tax solutions is preferred
