The Tax Accountant III – Income Tax Compliance is responsible for assisting with federal, state, and local income and franchise tax compliance and tax accounting matters.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:Contribute to the preparation of the consolidated federal income tax return, and responsible for preparing and filing state and local income tax returns, including preparing proper documentation for tax positionsReview partnership income tax returns prepared by third partiesCalculate annual book/tax differences (IRS Schedule M-3 information) for applicable divisions and subsidiaries to be used in the quarterly tax forecasts for tax accounting and estimated income tax payment purposesAssist with federal, state, and local income tax audits as necessary, including assisting with completing information document requests and providing state tax information to auditors.Research, analyze, and apply applicable tax rules to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local tax laws and regulationsSupport tax accounting team during quarterly close process as neededIdentify and implement process changes to improve efficiencies across income tax areasEDUCATION, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or equivalent degree; CPA, Master’s of Taxation, or JD a plusThree to seven years of federal and state tax compliance experienceStrong understanding of tax accounting rules under GAAPStrong analytical, problem solving, and critical thinking skillsStrong attention to detail and accuracyTeam playerWillingness to learnAbility to work effectively remotelyExperience with tax research software (CCH Intelliconnect and/or RIA Checkpoint)Strong Microsoft Excel skillsCorptax experience preferred
