The Tactical Aircraft (TACAIR) Spares Engineering Manager will be responsible for leading a multi-disciplined engineering team within the BGS Support & Specialty Supply Chain Engineering organization. Current aircraft / program support includes F/A-18, F-15, AV-8B, T-45, A-10, MQ-25, & C-17. This position will report to the Defense Supply Chain Spares Engineering & Provisioning Senior Manager and will be based in St. Louis, Missouri, with teammates and direct reports located at other Boeing / depot sites.
Position will manage engineers in variety of post-production engineering disciplines responsible for accurate (executable) technical data and tools required to manufacture / produce military aircraft spare parts and assemblies. Position/team enables Program Management and our internal / external Supply Chain in support of customer spare part requirements.
Spares Engineering is preparing for significant growth over the next 5 years and the successful candidate will help shape the organization and empower the team to implement innovative solutions.
Position Responsibilities:
Technical execute-ability of Performance Based Logistics (PBL) spare part requirements during proposal development and execution of orders/contractTechnical execute-ability of Defense and International customer transactional spare part requirementsManage and direct the engineering support to Program Management and Supply Chain for multiple Performance Based Logistics contractsPrioritize and dissect customer directed requests through internal and external collaborationSupport the execution of the team’s statement of work by removing barriers that are impacting the completion of tasks or the delivery of partsDevelop and execute spares engineering project and process plansImplement policies and proceduresProvide technical oversightEstablish operational goals and related metricsWork cross-functionally to coordinate with the Program, Production & BGS Reachback Engineering, Supplier Management, Supply Chain Management, Quality and Finance to address obsolescence and diminishing manufacturing supply (DMS) issuesApply lessons learned and proactively manage risksInform management and team by communicating/presenting daily status, metrics, progress to plan and listening to employee concerns and suggestionsCommunicate policies and directives to enhance employee awareness of expectationsDevelop a robust pipeline of engineers across multiple disciplines and all experience rangesSupport critical program staffing and redeployment activities, and identification of strategic skillsDevelop and execute a robust training and development plansDevelop employee engagement activities to motivate and engage the workforce.Perform in a fast-paced, diverse work environmentWork in a cross-functional work environment including engineering, manufacturing/operations, quality, product support, finance, business development and program management.Work independently and collaboratively in an investigative role where detailed processes and procedures may not be specified.Identify areas where process improvement is needed and have the ability to work with a diverse team to implement effective solutions and support viable action-oriented recommendations.Work at senior levels of the business and have strong business acumen.Develop and maintain relationships and partnerships with customers, stakeholders, peers, partners and direct reports, while achieving goals for cost, schedule, productivity, quality and customer satisfaction.Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience)
Bachelor of Science (or greater) from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics, or chemistry or other technical degree5+ years of experience working in an Engineering environmentExperience in Aerospace EngineeringExperience supporting Military/Defense customersExperience working with production and/or post-production engineering processes and proceduresPreferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience)
Written and verbal communication skills, and must be able to effectively communicate with Senior LeadershipExperience with engineering in a post-production environmentExperience in aircraft manufacturing working with assembly processes and proceduresExperience in project management for both small and large projectsProficient in navigating Boeing Engineering systems and translating technical requirements into actionable tasksExperience as a CAM (cost account manager) in EVM (earned value management)Experience leading or contributing to engineering change proposals for government contractsExperience in leadership either formally or informally leading teamsDrug Free Workplace:

Summary pay range: $129,200 – $174,800
