Essential Responsibilities:
Lead and manage the delivery of LRT systems construction projects from initiation through commissioning and handover, ensuring adherence to scope, schedule, budget, and quality objectives across Communications, Traction Power, Signaling, OCS, and duct bank installation workstreamsDirect project teams and coordinate with specialized subcontractors ensuring seamless integration of rail systems and maintaining alignment with design specifications and interface requirementsOversee complex systems integration and installation including building management systems (BMS), programmable logic controllers (PLCs), fiber optic networks, CCTV systems, power distribution, SCADA systems, and concrete encased duct bank construction to ensure optimal performance and interoperabilityManage comprehensive project documentation processes including technical submittals, RFIs, change orders, interface control documents, and system acceptance testing protocolsLead the development and execution of electrical installation work packages (EIWP) and systems commissioning plans, ensuring critical path activities are completed on schedule and technical constraints are proactively resolvedChampion Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) excellence through regular site inspections, safety leadership, and ensuring compliance with rail industry safety standards and regulationsDirect subcontract management activities including technical evaluations, contract negotiations, progress monitoring, milestone assessments, and commercial claims resolutionEstablish and maintain project controls including schedule development, resource allocation, risk management, and stakeholder reporting to senior management and client representativesCoordinate complex procurement strategies for specialized equipment including traction power transformers, signaling controllers, fiber optic infrastructure, communications equipment, and duct bank materialsLead quality assurance and commissioning efforts ensuring all electrical and communications systems meet stringent operational standards, performance specifications, and regulatory requirementsManage technical change requests and contract modifications while maintaining strict adherence to project budgets, schedules, and scope control processesDirect project closeout activities including comprehensive documentation turnover, warranty management, and operational training deliveryQualifications:
7-10 years of progressive experience in construction project management with proven track record in electrical contracting, communications contracting, or infrastructure construction projectsEducational background in construction management, electrical technology, or related technical discipline, OR completion of recognized trade programs in electrical, powerline technician, telecommunications, fiber optics, or related fields; Gold Seal Certification (GSC) and Project Management Professional (PMP) certification strongly preferredDemonstrated expertise with rail systems construction including signaling systems, traction power distribution, overhead catenary systems, communications infrastructure, and duct bank installation is an assetProven experience managing complex electrical or communications construction projects with knowledge of power distribution systems, control systems integration, fiber optic networks, and building automation systemsStrong technical competency in reading and interpreting complex electrical drawings, system schematics, interface control documents, and construction specifications for rail applicationsAdvanced proficiency with construction management tools including Microsoft Project, Primavera P6, document control systems (Bluebeam, Procore, Aconex), and construction management platformsExtensive experience with construction planning, change management, contract administration, and managing multiple prime contractors and specialized subcontractors simultaneouslyExceptional leadership and communication skills with demonstrated ability to manage cross-functional teams, interface with senior stakeholders, and represent the organization with clients and regulatory bodiesStrong analytical and problem-solving capabilities with experience managing construction risks, resolving complex interface issues, and implementing corrective action plansExperience coordinating specialized construction activities such as SCADA networks, distributed control systems, structured cabling infrastructure, duct bank construction, or industrial automation platforms is highly valuedProven track record in interface management across multiple system vendors, engineering disciplines, and project stakeholders in complex infrastructure construction environmentsKnowledge of construction industry standards and regulations including Canadian Electrical Code, municipal transit authority specifications, and construction safety requirements preferredAdditional Information
