We’re hiring for: Systems Integration/Automation Engineer
Location: Delmas, Mpumalanga, South Africa
The Systems Integration Engineer is responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining automated and process control systems within a Seed Research and development Technology Hub environment. This role ensures seamless integration and operation of specialized equipment and control/data systems through effective control strategies, integration with data systems and continuous improvement initiatives, driving efficiency, reliability, and data visibility across operations. This role is pivotal in ensuring accurate and reliable data are effectively and efficiently provided end to end across platforms through the value chain to enable quick and impactful decision making in a high pace research setting.

**You Will Be Part of Growing Team**
_The Seed Product Development team is responsible for designing, developing and executing the Corteva Agriscience™ research programs which advance genetic gain and develop seed products to bring to market. The team you will be working in supports the Africa Middle East Seed Product Development teams._
**Your Challenge:**
**System Design & Integration**
Develop and implement automation solutions using PLCs, HMIs, SCADA, and MES systems.
Integrate sensors, actuators, and robotics with control systems.
Ensure compatibility and communication between equipment and enterprise systems (ERP, MES).
**Data & Control Interface**
Manage data acquisition and integration from production equipment.
Configure and maintain communication protocols (e.g., OPC UA, Modbus, Ethernet/IP).
Ensure real-time data flow to support monitoring, reporting, and decision-making.
**Testing & Commissioning**
Conduct system testing, validation, and commissioning of automation projects.
Troubleshoot and resolve issues in control systems and equipment interfaces.
**Continuous Improvement**
Analyze production data to identify automation opportunities.
Optimize existing systems for performance, reliability, and energy efficiency.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support lean manufacturing initiatives
**Compliance & Safety**
Ensure systems comply with industry standards and safety regulations.
Maintain documentation for system configurations, changes, and procedures.
**Training and capacity building:**
Responsible for application training and support for research teams across Africa.
Monitor and maintain system use and process competencies amongst teams on research sites.
**Key Stakeholders and Interactions** **:**
You will work in collaboration with a team of Operational Leads across Africa to meet the internal customer needs of teams of research scientists, seed production, field testing and regulatory testing teams. You will manage relationships with external partners and vendors to accomplish the Research Center objectives.

**To Grow What Matters, You Will Need**
**Education & Experience**
+ Bachelor’s degree in Electronic Engineering (Mechatronics, Automation, or related field).
+ 5+ years of relevant industry related experience.
**Skills & Competencies**
+ Proficiency in PLC programming (e.g., Siemens, Allen-Bradley).
+ Experience with SCADA, HMI, and MES systems.
+ Data analytical and modelling capability
+ Strong understanding of industrial networks and protocols.
+ Analytical mindset with problem-solving skills.
+ Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
+ Ability to work in a dynamic multi-process environment and balance ever changing priorities based on business need.
+ Excellent personal interaction skills required for effectively developing and managing strong internal and external working relationships with a diverse group of people.
+ Ability to plan and communicate planning will be key to success
+ Ability to think strategically while balancing day to day practical needs to ensure execution
+ Ability to solve complex problems to meet strict seasonal timelines and influence without authority.
+ Experience in, or knowledge of, agricultural seed or inputs supply business will be beneficial.
