Systems Engineer II (Remote)
**Position Purpose:** The Systems Engineer 2 develops, maintains and supports The Home Depot's technical infrastructure, hardware, and system software components for small to large-sized projects. Performs configuration, debugging and support for multiple infrastructure platforms on large-sized and smaller projects. Performs root cause analysis for service interruption recovery; create preventative measures and present to management. Assist in store & SSC engineering and roll-out implementation. Can communicate complete technical solutions to business partners with minimal direction using understandable language. Ability to manage time and work independently on multiple projects. Systems Engineer 2 has been exposed to various architecture review boards and has contributed to deliverables presented at review boards. Escalate appropriately to technical leaders and management. **Key Responsibilities:** + 25% Perform installation, maintenance and support of system software and user support on small to large-sized projects. + 15% Perform configuration, debugging and support for multiple infrastructure platforms on small to large-sized projects. + 15% Perform installation, maintenance and support of hardware and infrastructure on small to large-sized projects. + 15% Monitor and tune platforms to ensure expected availability and performance levels are achieved. + 15% Perform root cause analysis for service interruption recovery; create preventative measures and present to management. + 15% Assist in store & SSC engineering and roll-out implementation. **Direct Manager/Direct Reports:** + Position reports to the Manager, Information Services + No direct responsibility for supervising others. **Travel Requirements:** + Typically requires overnight travel less than 10% of the time. **Physical Requirements:** + Most of the time is spent sitting in a comfortable position and there is frequent opportunity to move about. On rare occasions there may be a need to move or lift light articles. **Working Conditions:** + Located in a comfortable indoor area. Any unpleasant conditions would be infrequent and not objectionable. **Minimum Qualifications:** + Must be eighteen years of age or older. + Must be legally permitted to work in the United States. **Preferred Qualifications:** + 7-10 years related experience with focus in infrastructure administration (servers, databases, network, end-user devices) + Knowledge of SQL + Experience in operational support of infrastructure and applications, including system monitoring and alerting (e.g., Solarwinds) + Retail/business experience a plus. + Project leadership ability. + BS Computer Science or related field. **Minimum Education:** + The knowledge, skills and abilities typically acquired through the completion of a high school diploma and/or GED. **Preferred Education:** + No additional education **Minimum Years of Work Experience:** + 4 **Preferred Years of Work Experience:** + No additional years of experience **Minimum Leadership Experience:** + None **Preferred Leadership Experience:** + None **Certifications:** + None **Competencies:** + Knowledge of multiple programming languages, databases, life cycle methodologies.
