**Job Description**
Do you love taking on challenges that create a positive impact? Are you passionate about empowering the future of aviation? Join a team of dynamic, intelligent, and creative engineers working across multiple functions to further wireless avionics information systems. We're looking for engineers who bring fresh ideas from all areas and industries and who are versatile, display leadership qualities, and are enthusiastic to take on new problems and challenges.
Teledyne's System Engineers architect the next-generation technologies that change how flight crews and ground maintenance personnel connect, explore, and interact with information and one another. Our computational challenges are so big, complex, and unique that we've got to make our own platforms to handle them. Our team designs and builds the hardware, software and networking technologies that power the backbone of commercial aircraft flying around the globe. Come help build the foundational components of next generation avionics technologies. Imagine what you could do here!
The Systems Engineering team at Teledyne Controls is seeking a forward-thinking engineer with a passion for driving innovation across the full product lifecycle—from concept through certification and entry into service. In this role, you’ll shape system architectures, define product requirements, lead trade studies, and guide integration, verification, and validation efforts. You’ll contribute to both R&D initiatives and the evolution of our in-service platforms, including wireless data transfer, data acquisition, and networked avionics systems for commercial aircraft.
Success in this role requires a hands-on technical mindset paired with strong project leadership. Clear, confident communication across engineering, quality, manufacturing, and executive teams is essential.
**Your job:**
+ **Gain deep technical insight** into complex systems across their entire lifecycle—from concept through deployment—by engaging directly with hardware, crafting automation scripts, and designing custom APIs.
+ **Lead cross-functional engineering initiatives** for small to mid-sized product developments by driving trade studies, coordinating design reviews, and aligning technical decisions with program objectives.
+ **Design aircraft network topologies** encompassing SATCOM and cellular wireless ground links to ensure reliable connectivity across airborne and terrestrial domains.
+ **Translate operational requirements** into robust system module designs and comprehensive verification strategies that ensure performance and reliability.
+ **Integrate and troubleshoot prototype hardware and software** to ensure seamless interoperability across subsystems.
+ **Conduct root cause analysis** of field issues by collaborating closely with OEMs and customers to resolve complex system-level challenges.
+ **Develop and execute system-level test procedures** to validate hardware/software functionality and ensure full compliance with technical requirements.
+ **Design and implement automated test frameworks** to streamline regression testing and improve verification efficiency.
+ **Author and maintain technical documentation** , including interface control documents, system specifications, and process guides.
+ **Support product transition to production** , including design validation, manufacturing readiness, and field deployment support.
+ **Collaborate with Program Management** to develop cost estimates, schedules, and risk assessments for product development.
**Job Qualifications:**
+ Bachelor’s degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Math (STEM) discipline.
+ Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in systems engineering or a related technical field.
+ Experience with Python for developing automated test scripts and frameworks.
+ Experience with hands-on hardware integration, debugging, and custom API development.
+ Strong understanding of system-level testing, verification strategies, and root cause analysis.
+ Familiarity with wireless and networked avionics systems, including Wi-Fi and Cellular technologies.
+ Demonstrated expertise in networking, including protocol analysis (e.g., TCP/IP, UDP), network architecture design, and troubleshooting in avionics environments.
+ Ability to translate operational requirements into robust system designs.
+ Experience working under ISO 9001 guidelines is preferred.
+ Excellent communication skills and ability to lead cross-functional engineering efforts.
+ Previous experience in avionics or aerospace systems is preferred.
**What Teledyne Controls offers you:**
+ Opportunity to develop your career with the world's leading company in avionics: electronics, software, and networking technologies
+ At Teledyne Controls, you get a unique opportunity to experience how cutting-edge R&D, software, and hardware development come together under one roof. We do our research, our development, and our manufacturing
+ Support transition of hardware and software products from development to production, and support entry into service and OEM/customer field issues
+ Work closely with Repair Station and Production teams
+ A fair compensation structure and benefits such as tuition reimbursement
+ Friendly culture with a focus on collaboration, problem-solving, and creativity
