Position Title: Systems Engineer

Hours: Monday – Friday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, 40 Hours/Week

Summary of Duties: Support Siemens customers in development design, implementation, configuration, testing and commissioning of substation automation protection systems with applications that incorporate Siemens and other intelligent electronic device vendors. Design, develop, implement, configure, factory acceptance test (FAT), and commission the power transmission and distribution substation systems. Interact and support customers in troubleshooting and commissioning support as well as provide technical back-office support for the sales/proposal organization. Develop new application solutions with IEC61850 between other protocols by using RTUs, PLCs to provide technical support on Siemens supplied substations of automation and protection systems. 75% domestic travel required to Siemens’ Project Sites.

Qualifications: The position requires a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field and five (5) years of experience in the job offered or as an Automation Engineer, Computer Engineer, or a related occupation.

The position requires experience with the following skills: Experience in power substations automation field; Experience with communication protocol network technologies, including design, configuration, and troubleshooting of level 2 and level 3 network including communication protocols such as IEC61850 (MMS/GOOSE/SMV), DNP3.0, Modbus, IEC103, IEC101, IEC104, PROFINET and Profibus; Experience developing, designing, and testing Human Machine Interface Systems (HMI) and SCADA systems; Experience configuring and testing Siemens A8000 as Remote Terminal Units (RTU), SIMATIC PLC S7-1200/300, Ruggedcom switches or equivalent; Experience with the following products and associated software packages: Device Manager, SICAM Toolbox II, SIMATIC TIA Portal, Siemens SICAM PAS, and SICAM SCC/WINCC; Experience designing, configuring, and testing Siemens Gas Density Monitor Systems, preparing Factory Acceptance Test (FAT) procedures, and testing environments for customer projects; Experience drafting by using Microsoft Visio; Experience with automation logic applied on Terminal Remote Unit (RTU), protection relays, SIMATIC PLC for electrical power systems; Experience developing new order proposals, such as bills of materials and estimated engineering hours; Experience with C Programming Language. 75% domestic travel required to Siemens’ Project Sites.
