MISSION

Thales Begium (Herstal site) is a world leader in precision-guided rocket systems for helicopters and jet aircraft. To support our ambitious production and product development roadmap, Thales is expanding its engineering team and is seeking a System Engineer.

As a System Engineer, you will become a member of a multidisciplinary development team within the Engineering department. You will engage in the design, development, and qualification activities for new products or concepts, as well as provide technical support to Operations and Projects for the in-service product line.

You will have the opportunity to work with cutting-edge Model-Based Design methods and tools in a high-tech environment. Your role will require you to support multiple projects, necessitating strong planning and organizational skills. Through these initiatives, you will actively collaborate to define and enhance the performance of rocket systems integrated on customer’s platforms, utilizing simulations and live demonstrations.

RESPONSIBILITY

Develop and improve both new and existing Algorithms and Control Laws design for Guidance, Navigation, Flight Controls and Aiming System.Test and assess performances of Algorithms using analytical methods and Monte-Carlo simulations.Perform Algorithms validation and verification (V&V) for any updates and/or new designs.Support integration of Algorithms into hardware using code generation and Hardware-in-the-loop test rig.Improve C code generated and support embedded team to integrate algorithms into devicesParticipate to trials (firing campaigns) and process flight test data.Maintain digital twin for our current and in-development products.Model physical behaviors of new concepts and perform simulations to orient development and answer key technical decisions.Interact with Bid & Project teams to prepare technical offers and answer customer requests.Interact with Operations and Quality teams to optimize calibration procedures and treat acceptance test deviations.

PROFILE

You graduated with a Master’s Degree in Engineering, Aeronautics, Mathematics, Physics or Electronics3-5 years of relevant experience working in engineering departmentYou are competent in mathematics and statistics, you are not afraid of complexity and you can efficiently work with large volume of data.You have an analytical mind and are recognized for your thoroughnessYou know MATLAB and SimulinkYou are a good communicator, you can show pedagogy to explain complex problems with simple wordsYou understand the challenges of embedding real time algorithms in micro-controllersYou are self-motivated and like to take initiativesYou like following the latest trends in innovationYou are able to work with Agile cultureAppetence for high-tech sensor (optical, magnetic) is a plusAbility to build your own tools in C/C++/Pyhton script is a plusAn experience in aeronautical, spatial, defense or automotive industry, as well as a knowledge of the standards DO-178, ARP4754 or ISO26262, is a plusKnowledge of the VHDL language (FPGA) would be interesting
