Coordinates system development to include design, modeling, security, integration, and formal testing + Develops advanced engineering ideas and guides their development into a final product + Develops advanced solutions to a variety of highly complex engineering problems + Perform highly advanced systems design, development, and integration from the start of a systems life cycle to the end + Provides and applies advanced engineering to highly complex infrastructures including installing, configuring, testing, and maintaining operating systems, application software, and system management tools + Provides and applies advanced engineering skills to highly complex systems modeling, simulation, and analysis + Performs continual maintenance and provides advanced solutions for security, backup, and redundancy problems + Prepares and maintains documentation for processes and procedures related to engineering projects + Maintains current knowledge of rapidly changing technology, always on the lookout for new technologies, and works with management to evolve current processes + Performs complex systems development and design work that may include logic design, I/O design, model formulation, computer architecture analysis and design, and digital systems engineering + Invents innovative ways to drive production operational efficiency + Drives scalability and operability of supported systems/infrastructure + Implements, manages, and enhances Continuous Integration and Delivery (CI/CD) pipeline tools + Creates, maintains, and reviews Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Desired State Configuration (DSC) and/or Puppet configuration management tools to support the provisioning infrastructure + Provides system/equipment/specialized training and technical guidance + May coach and provide guidance to less-experienced professionals + May serve as a team or task lead + Recognized as a Subject Matter Expert in systems engineering **What You’ll Need to Succeed:** + **Education** : BS in Computer Engineering, Computer Science or related technology field. Experience may be substituted for education. + **Required Experience** : Minimum of 3 years’ related technical experience to include the following: + Troubleshooting complex system hardware and software issues + Practical use of DevOps and/or DevSecOps, and/or GitOps methodologies + Solid knowledge of protocols such as DNS, HTTP, LDAP, ICMP, SSH and SNMP + Solid knowledge of Networking, VLANs, Firewalls, Load Balancers, and addressing schemes + Skilled in system administration tasks such as file system, network, and account troubleshooting + Thorough technical documentation including diagrams + Successful implementation of new technology in complex environments **Security Clearance Level** : Active Top Secret **Location** : Washington, District of Columbia; limited telework may be available **GDIT IS YOUR PLACE:** + 401K with company match + Comprehensive health and wellness packages + Internal mobility team dedicated to helping you own your career + Professional growth opportunities including paid education and certifications + Rest and recharge with paid vacation and holidays The likely salary range for this position is $119,000 - $161,000. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
