System Engineer
**Description** Leidos is seeking a **Systems Engineer** to support and maintain the development lab environment of a high-profile DOD contract. We are currentlyseeking a skilled and self-driven LinuxSystem Engineerto complement our team and take ownership of a dynamic, multi-platformlab environmentdesigned to support developers and system architects. In this role, you will be responsible for configuring, maintaining, and optimizing critical systems that enable innovation and rapid prototyping. **Primary Responsibilities** + Manage and maintain the VMware vSphere/vCenter virtualization infrastructure, ensuring availability, optimal performance, and security. + Build, manage and support a Linux server environment, including deploying releases, system configuration, troubleshooting, and hardening (STIG compliance and patching) . + Configure, monitor, patch and maintain load balancers, F5 and application layer gateway products to ensure high availability and security compliance. distribution across applications. + Maintain and support the Windows Active Directory (AD) environment, including user account management, group policy configuration, and a small number of Windows domain controllers. + Support Helpdesk as the Tier 3 escalation point to the helpdesk team, providing expert-level troubleshooting and resolution of complex IT issues. + Assist Service Delivery and Developers if needed on designing, staging and deploying NIPR and SIPR based deliverables. + Perform periodic reviews of operational functions, practices and solutions using and provide practical solutions for any identified constraints. + Manage and maintain certificate, keys and other identity elements needed for access to either production or lab resources. + Install and configure cross domain High Speed Guard and other cross domain hardware components. + Configure, manage and develop configuration and application policies for Email and application level Gateways such as SEG, Broadcom API and Policy Manager. + Support the Engineering team in building and testing proof of concept environment which include cross domain hardware and software. **Basic Qualifications** + A minimum of an Associate’s degree in Information Systems or related discipline with at least 10 years of relevant experience, or Bachelor’s degree or higher in Information System or a closely related field a minimum of 8 years of experience. Experience in lieu of a degree may be considered. + Current IAT Level II or higher Certification such as Security + Active DoD Top Secret Clearance w/ ability to obtain and maintain Top Secret. + Experience building, configuring, patching and maintaining Windows/Linux Servers via Ansible or other automation platforms. + Thorough understanding of deploying on-premises systems in virtual and containerized environments. + Knowledge of basic networking and network protocols (e.g. TCP/IP, routing, firewalls, SSH and ports) + Hands-on experience with reviewing system logs and events to resolve issues. + Develop and provide solutions to complex technical issues and problems that impact dev, test and production computing environments. + Experienced with creating and managing critical system work instruction and Standard Operating Procedure documentation. + Experience servicing as a technical escalation resource for Tier 2 or Help Desk support personnel. + Excellent written and oral communication skills. **Preferred Qualifications** + Thorough understanding and/or experience with troubleshooting cross domain Mission Partner (M.P.) data flow interruptions. + Strong working knowledge of configuring and supporting Secure Email Gateway (SEG). + Knowledge with writing or updating application layer Gateways (ALG) to improve or resolve application specific traffic issues. + Familiarization with PDQ and Satellite software deployment tools for Linux and Windows environment.
