System Administrator – Red Hat Enterprise Linux or Red Hat Derivative Systems (SAL) Skill Level 4
Description

Kaizen Approach is currently seeking a system administrator – Red Hat Enterprise Linux (SAL) to support the implementation and operation of Red Hat Enterprise Linux-based or Red Hat Derivative IT systems. In this role, you’ll install, configure, and maintain Linux-based operating systems and their services while performing essential system administration tasks such as account management, system health monitoring, and security log reviews. You’ll be responsible for identifying and escalating capacity, performance, and reliability issues, applying patches and configuration changes, and coordinating hardware maintenance with dispatched technicians. This position involves managing systems as part of an integrated solution, assisting related administrators in troubleshooting network and storage subsystem issues, and automating tasks to efficiently oversee multiple systems. You’ll also anticipate and proactively address deficiencies to ensure optimal system performance while communicating status updates to agency management and internal customers. Requirements: Must have the ability to configure Linux-based operating systems and services to maximize system performance, reliability, and compliance with system requirements.Must be capable of identifying and correcting deficiencies and errors related to capacity, performance, and reliability while escalating unresolved issues as needed.Must possess the ability to install, configure, and manage Linux-based operating systems and services according to provided specifications.Must have the ability to perform day-to-day operations, including account management, system health monitoring, status checks, and reviewing technical and security logs.Must be capable of applying patches and configuration changes according to system requirements and provided direction to maintain security and performance.Must possess the ability to assist related administrators in troubleshooting and resolving network and storage subsystem issues as part of an integrated system management approach.Must be capable of automating tasks, using tools to manage multiple systems concurrently, supporting hardware technicians, performing maintenance, and effectively communicating system status to agency management and internal customers.Must have nine years of demonstrated IT experience, including five years of Red Hat Enterprise Linux system administration experience within the last eight years. Candidates without a degree must meet the full experience requirement, while those with an IT-related degree may apply relevant education equivalencies (e.g., a bachelor's degree reduces the requirement by 12 months). Additional Tier III or Tier II certifications may offset up to 18 months of core IT experience.Must have a high school diploma (or GED). An IT-related associate’s, bachelor’s, master’s, or doctorate degree may reduce the overall experience requirement. An active Tier II certification related to Red Hat Enterprise Linux system administration, such as Red Hat Certified Engineer (RHCE), is required.
