As the Sweet Cookies Process Development Group Leader, you will be accountable for shaping and executing the process development strategy across the North America Sweet Cookies portfolio. You will lead a team of process engineers and technologists to develop, scale, and optimize manufacturing processes that unlock consumer-delighting innovation, improve efficiency, and strengthen our network capabilities. 

This role combines technical leadership, strategic influence, and talent development. You will guide your team to solve complex process challenges, lead technology strategy decisions for new and existing platforms, and partner across regions and functions to deliver sustainable growth. 

How you will contribute

Process Strategy and Network Influence 

Define and execute the process development strategy for Sweet Cookies in alignment with business and network priorities. 

Influence network design and investment decisions through deep technical understanding and process capability insights. 

Develop and recommend technology platforms that enhance flexibility, cost, and quality across the manufacturing network. 

Process Development and Technical Problem Solving 

Lead and guide teams to solve complex technical challenges in new product development and process improvement. 

Provide process recommendations that enable innovation, improve manufacturability, and drive cost and waste reduction. 

Ensure robust process development through rigorous design of experiments, scale-up protocols, and line validation. 

Capital and Network Projects 

Lead the development of new line IDB and IDS (Initial Design Brief / Initial Design Specification) and support capital AR preparation. 

Partner with engineering and supply chain to execute network expansion or transformation projects, ensuring alignment with R&D technical standards. 

Technology Advancement and External Linkages 

Connect with the Global Platforms to identify and transfer emerging technologies into the region. 

Drive new technology unlocks from a process perspective to enable new consumer experiences or efficiency breakthroughs. 

Build external partnerships and leverage supplier capabilities to bring differentiated process solutions into MDLZ. 

People Leadership and Community Building 

Lead, coach, and develop a high-performing team of process engineers and technologists. 

Foster a strong process community across the Sweet category and broader R&D organization to share learnings and best practices. 

Champion technical mastery, problem-solving capability, and continuous improvement mindset across the team. 

Operational Excellence and Digital Enablement 

Use digital tools and data-driven insights to improve process control, reduce waste, and achieve manufacturing standard performance. 

Partner closely with Manufacturing and IIM (Integrated Improvement Management) to sustain improvements and build line capability. 

Cross-Functional Collaboration and Stakeholder Management 

Partner with Product, Pack, Regulatory, and Consumer Science peers to ensure seamless end-to-end delivery. 

Communicate progress, learnings, and recommendations effectively to senior stakeholders, influencing decisions with sound technical and business rationale.

More about this role

Education / Certifications:

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Chemical, Mechanical, or Food Engineering (or a related technical discipline). 

Job specific requirements:

Minimum 8 years of experience in process development, scale-up, or manufacturing within the food or consumer goods industry. 

Proven track record in leading teams and delivering complex process development or capital projects from concept through commercialization. 

Strong understanding of process fundamentals such as mixing, forming, baking, cooling, and packaging integration for bakery systems. 

Demonstrated ability to influence network strategy and partner across Engineering, Supply Chain, and Commercial teams. 

Experience with process capability analysis, statistical tools, and digital process technologies. 

Excellent leadership and coaching skills with a passion for developing technical talent. 

Strong communication and storytelling skills to translate technical insights into clear business recommendations.

Work schedule:

Onsite role based in East Hanover, NJ.

The base salary range for this position is $106,300 to $146,200; the exact salary depends on several factors such as experience, skills, education, and budget. In addition to base salary, this position is eligible for participation in a highly competitive bonus program with possibility for overachievement based on performance and company results.
