SW Product Manager - Edge AI and On-Device experiences. 

 

Product Manager (PM) in this specialized domain operates at the intersection of high-performance hardware and complex AI software. They must balance the high-level user experience with possible constraints of on-device processing and deliver state of the art software experiences.

Job Summary:
This role is responsible for defining, planning, and executing the product strategy, collaborating with various teams to deliver software solutions that delight customers and meet business goals. The role plans and manages technical programs or projects, effectively steering them to meet specific roadmap and feature objectives. The role develops a comprehensive software vision and roadmap for product initiatives.

Core Responsibilities:

Own the product vision and strategy for edge AI experiences across vision, language, speech, and multimodal domains. Be in sync with the dynamic landscape of LLM/SLM/MLM etc., models and be familiar with model compression techniques.

 

Strategy & Roadmap: Define the vision for on-device multimodal AI (combining audio, voice, and vision) and align it with PC and mobile hardware capabilities.

Hardware-Software Synergy: Drive end-to-end strategy for software and hardware (including firmware) interactions, specifically focusing on how AI models impact power, performance, and battery life.

System Optimization: Manage critical performance trade-offs (e.g., latency vs. accuracy) to ensure AI features have minimal impact on power and performance and does not impact battery life

Application Lifecycle Management: Experience defining, developing, and delivering production-ready software applications that bridge the gap between high-level user interfaces and low-level system firmware.

Technical Roadmap Ownership: Lead the integration of multimodal AI capabilities into software features, ensuring that hardware acceleration (NPU/GPU) is leveraged to maximize on-device efficiency.


Additional Responsibilities:

Leads the organization through the entire product development cycle, ensuring quality and delivery.

Collaborates closely with engineering, design, and other relevant teams to ensure the successful development and delivery of high-quality software solutions on time and within scope.

Strategically partners with stakeholders to understand needs and priorities.

Translates complex market and stakeholder needs into product requirements and definitions.

Translates customer feedback and assesses the external environment to identify potential changes that could enhance the differentiated product roadmap.

Provides thought leadership to stakeholders to guide feature development and prioritization.

Translates user requirements into executable and workable feature items with the software engineering team.

Provides guidance for junior team members on product management strategies.

Tracks and reports key metrics to drive future product developments.

Advises key stakeholders on the portfolio strategy across all phases of the lifecycle.



Education & Experience Recommended:

Four-year or Graduate Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, or any other related discipline or commensurate work experience or demonstrated competence.

4 + years in technical product management, with at least 2+ years specifically in AI/ML or data-driven products.


Key Skills & Competencies:

Dual Success Metrics: The ability to track both product outcomes (user engagement) and model performance (latency, precision, recall etc).

Prototyping: nice to have: Proficiency in AI prototyping tools to demonstrate UX concepts for conversational or multimodal interfaces.

Data Strategy: Experience managing the data lifecycle—acquisition, labeling, and quality—to train reliable models.

Communication: Exceptional skill in translating complex AI concepts into actionable plans for non-technical stakeholders and executive leadership.

Distill complex technical roadmaps into persuasive narratives for cross-functional stakeholders and executive leadership.

Drive hardware and software synchronization to ensure high-quality product delivery within strict project timelines.

Lead end-to-end product launches by aligning marketing, sales, and engineering efforts toward a unified go-to-market strategy.

Neutralize project risks by identifying and resolving strategic bottlenecks before they impact team velocity or delivery goals.

The pay range for this role is $116,150 to $182,400 USD annually with additional opportunities for pay in the form of bonus and/or equity (applies to United States of America candidates only). Pay varies by work location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
