**Job Description Summary**
The Associate Director, Sustainability, is responsible for developing and implementing sustainability strategy and programs to help our client achieve their sustainability goals and targets. You will collaborate directly with one of our prominent clients to deeply understand their needs and ensure they benefit from C&W’s global sustainability expertise. You will be responsible for integrating sustainability across the entire real estate lifecycle, from site selection and fit-outs to occupancy, maintenance, and overall experience.
To seamlessly deliver the client’s sustainability program and achieve targets, you will work closely with sustainability and operational teams including facility managers, engineering managers, building operating engineers, vendors, and strategic partners. You will also be responsible for tracking, monitoring, and reporting energy and carbon performance. Finally, you will also monitor and report key sustainability trends globally to support continuous improvement of the client’s sustainability program. This role is vital to fostering a successful client relationship by driving sustainability performance, mitigating risks, and enhancing processes.
**Job Description**
**Primary Responsibilities**
+ Own client real estate sustainability strategy and drive the delivery of key objectives. Conduct assessments to identify environmental impacts within the organization, then design and implement comprehensive sustainability strategies, and develop annual goals and recommendations aligned with business objectives.
+ Lead the implementation and continuous improvement of Sustainability Program across client’s portfolio, working collaboratively with stakeholders to successfully implement program and initiatives to reach client’s objectives. Maintain strong relationships with key client stakeholders including real estate and business unit leadership.
+ Develop and implement an appropriate governance structure for the program – including communications on strategies, plans, and progress toward goals using the appropriate metrics or KPIs to all levels of staff.
+ Execute sustainability roadmap across client’s global portfolio, working collaboratively with stakeholders to successfully implement program and initiatives to reach client’s objectives.
+ Track, analyze, and report on global sustainability metrics, including greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions (Scopes 1, 2, and 3), energy, water, waste, and ESG metrics. Report internally and externally (GRI, CDP, TCFD, etc.) on sustainability initiatives and metrics, including ESG compliance reporting at the local, state, and federal levels. Support third-party assurance for annual GHG emissions and oversee contract with partners.
+ Prioritize the suite of mechanisms to drive carbon reduction – including asset optimization, energy efficiency, and renewable energy – working with management, engineers, vendors, and strategic partners. Develop and recommend procurement strategies to help them achieve client’s objectives cost-effectively.
+ Collaborate with internal stakeholders to understand opportunities and challenges to the program, build consensus, and translate those into a robust program approach and framework.
+ Manage the process of change, ensuring there are tools, processes, and mechanisms to maintain, update, and communicate changes.
+ Maintain a regular publishing schedule of key information supported by review sessions with stakeholders.
+ Understand downstream impacts of changes to the standards on partner organizations and mitigate accordingly (i.e. technology, security, amenities, etc.)
+ Maintain awareness of global sustainability trends, tools, and metrics, and support the integration of sustainability best practices into client’s sustainability program.
+ Access current policies and processes, identify gaps in sustainability best practices, and drive improvement including drafting of new policies.

Demonstrate innovative thinking and proactive management in bringing new ideas and solutions to the client, and ensure they are rolled out effectively.
+ Provide technical expertise, strategic leadership, and support for all various client facilities on sustainability issues.
**Experience, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities**
+ Bachelor’s degree in subjects such environmental science, engineering, climate change, sustainability, or related field. Master’s degree preferred.
+ At least 10 years of relevant experience managing large-scale programs for Fortune 100 corporations.
+ At least 5 years of experience managing people and teams.
+ Strong computer skills including proficiency in Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint, online software platforms, with the ability to use spreadsheets and data analysis applications.
+ Broad understanding of sustainability program management within the real estate sector with deep expertise in the following:
+ Benchmarking
+ Sustainability strategies and programs
+ Climate risk and mitigation
+ Sustainable portfolio management strategies and programs
+ Sustainability and ESG reporting (GHG, GRI, TCFD, CDP, etc.)
+ Working knowledge of HVAC, electrical, mechanical, and building automation systems, as well as construction documents and operational policies.
+ Has advanced expertise in sustainability program management in real estate including strategic planning, transaction management, project/construction management, and facilities management.
+ A proven record in sustainability program execution/delivery under tight timelines.
+ An experienced leader with the ability to build relationships across all engaged stakeholders.
+ A skilled communicator with experience influencing and shaping program strategy and delivery.
+ Ability to inspire, motivate, and guide team members towards achieving their goals.
+ Proven experience in leading diverse teams, fostering a collaborative work environment.

**WORK ENVIRONMENT**
This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines. Regularly required to travel outside between properties in varying weather conditions.
**PHYSICAL DEMANDS**

While performing the duties of this job, the employee may need to travel from floor to floor, climb stairs, and may be required to travel outside between buildings in varying outdoor weather conditions. The employee may also be regularly required to remain in a stationary position (sit or stand) for 85% of the time; regularly use hands to operate office machinery and regularly required to walk, talk, and hear.

The compensation that will be offered to the successful candidate will depend on factors such as whether the position is covered by a collective bargaining agreement, the geographic area in which the work will be performed, market pay rates in that area, and the candidate’s experience and qualifications.
The company will not pay less than minimum wage for this role.
The compensation for the position is: $ 153,000.00 - $180,000.00
