Sustainability Analyst-Onsite Role In Sacramento
Must be located in Sacramento area!! Must have advanced Excel skills and Power BI experience Responsibilities + Manage the grant reporting relationship with USDA and related external partners for the Advancing Markets for Producers award, including documenting activities and tracking dollars spent. + Work with internal team members and external partners to define, document, assemble, and update key sustainability-related data sets. + Assist in maintaining an auditable mass-balance data tracking system for sales associated with sustainability attributes. + Support Member Relations and Sustainability teams in achieving Climate-Smart Commodities project objectives. + Drive company sustainability program management with the Stewardship Team by identifying annual program milestones and tracking progress against them. + Execute and support activities that implement broader stewardship program goals and plans. + Assist in the development of company sustainability reporting by providing data and narratives to internal and external communication partners. + Coordinate sustainability-related data collection for the formal annual sustainability report from internal teams and subject matter experts. + Collect, write, and edit narrative accounts that enhance and illustrate sustainability storytelling beyond raw data. + Provide excellent customer service to internal and external stakeholders, responding to requests for training, project support, and other sustainability-related topics. + Support data and knowledge collection efforts required to meet USDA AMP reporting and program needs. Essential Skills + Bachelor's degree. + Degree, coursework, or training in sustainability, environmental science, environmental studies, or a related field. + Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including building and working with dashboards. + Proficiency in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook. + Strong analytical and investigative skills, with the ability to identify current and future sustainability practices. + Ability to work effectively across different teams to collect and synthesize sustainability-related data. + Strong verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate clearly with employees and external partners. + Strong written communication skills, including the ability to write and edit clear sustainability narratives and reports. Additional Skills & Qualifications + Experience with Power BI or similar data visualization tools. + Experience working with supply chain and logistics data. + Experience supporting grant reporting or working with government programs, particularly USDA initiatives. + Experience contributing to or producing sustainability reports or climate-related project documentation. Work Environment The Sustainability Specialist works in a collaborative, cross-functional environment that requires regular interaction with Member Relations, Supply Chain, Government and Public Affairs, Sales and Marketing, and external partners such as USDA personnel. The role is primarily office-based and relies heavily on digital tools, including Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook) and data visualization platforms such as Power BI. The position involves managing detailed datasets, preparing reports, and participating in meetings to align sustainability initiatives with broader stewardship and climate-smart commodity objectives. The work environment emphasizes teamwork, clear communication, and responsiveness to internal and external requests related to sustainability projects and reporting Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Sacramento, CA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $40.86 - $43.26/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
