Job Title: Survey Technician

Job Description

This entry-level position supports survey crews in the field by handling equipment, setting up instruments, and assisting with data collection. It is an ideal role for individuals interested in land surveying, civil engineering, or oil and gas fieldwork. The role is physically active and requires working outdoors in various weather conditions.

ResponsibilitiesAssist in the setup and breakdown of survey equipment, including total stations, GPS units, and levels.Hold and position rods or prisms to measure distances and elevations.Clear brush and obstacles to access survey sites.Mark points and boundaries using stakes, flags, or paint.Record field notes and measurements accurately.Maintain and transport equipment safely.Follow safety protocols and wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).Support the Crew Chief with various field tasks as needed.Essential SkillsHigh school diploma or GED required.Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions.Strong physical stamina; ability to lift 50+ lbs and walk long distances.Basic understanding of math and measurements.Willingness to travel and work overtime or weekends if needed.Additional Skills & QualificationsPrior experience in construction, surveying, or oil/gas fieldwork is preferred.Familiarity with GPS and survey instruments is beneficial.CDL or heavy equipment operation experience is a plus.Work Environment

This role involves outdoor fieldwork in rural, urban, or industrial settings, with exposure to varying terrain and weather conditions. It may require travel to remote job sites located in OH, WV, and Southwestern PA. This position is based out of Canonsburg, Pennsylvania.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $20.00/hr.
