Summit Design and Engineering Services is seeking a skilled and motivated Survey Party Chief to work in the Asheville area with at least five years of field experience across a broad range of survey types. The ideal candidate will bring strong leadership, technical expertise, and a commitment to quality and safety. \n
Key Responsibilities:\n\nLead and perform all types of land surveys, including but not limited to: construction staking, as-builts, ALTA\/NSPS surveys, topographic, boundary, subdivision, and NCDOT location surveys.\nSupervise and motivate the survey crew to ensure work is completed accurately, safely, and efficiently.\nPerform survey computations and assist with data collection.\nTrain and mentor junior survey technicians in equipment use, field procedures, and safety protocols.\nMaintain a high standard of accuracy and productivity in all survey work.\nCommunicate effectively with internal teams, contractors, and clients.\nEnsure proper operation and maintenance of all survey equipment.\nProvide support in technical field tasks as needed.\n\n
Qualifications:\n\nHigh school diploma or equivalent required; additional technical training is a plus.\nMinimum of 5 years of survey experience.\nNC Professional Land Surveyor (PLS) license preferred.\nProficient with GPS, RTK, VRS, and robotic total station equipment.\nExperience with AutoCAD and Civil 3D is a strong plus.\nAbility to read and interpret construction drawings and maps.\nSkilled in making accurate field calculations and job planning.\nStrong attention to detail, with excellent communication and leadership skills.\nPhysically able to walk rough terrain, stand for long periods, lift up to 50 lbs, and perform field work in various weather conditions.\nAbility to travel as needed, including overnight stays\n\n
