Position Summary:
Join ADM’s premier marine operations team at ARTCO as a Survey Manager, where you’ll play a pivotal role in maintaining vessel integrity and compliance across our inland river fleet. This position offers a unique opportunity to apply your marine expertise in a professional, safety-first environment that values innovation, precision, and operational excellence. You'll be essential in ensuring adherence to federal regulations, industry standards, and company policies while helping safeguard our operational and environmental responsibilities. This is an exempt level position.
Key Responsibilities
Survey & InspectionConduct detailed, routine vessel surveys and audits across ARTCO vessels, including inspections at various locations and shipyards along the inland river system.Collaborate with the Third-Party Organization (TPO) to ensure consistent application of compliance requirements and survey procedures.
Education & Marine CredentialsHigh School Diploma or equivalentMinimum four (4) years’ experience as a master, mate (pilot), or engineer on towing vessels; or relevant maritime background such as:Former U.S. Coast Guard marine inspectorMilitary marine experienceAccredited marine surveyor (e.g., National Association of Marine Surveyors, Society of Accredited Marine Surveyors), or experience with vessels of similar operating/physical specs

Key Responsibilities
Survey & InspectionConduct detailed, routine vessel surveys and audits across ARTCO vessels, including inspections at various locations and shipyards along the inland river system.Collaborate with the Third-Party Organization (TPO) to ensure consistent application of compliance requirements and survey procedures.
Reporting & Documentation
Prepare clear, timely, and technically accurate reports of surveys, inspections, and audits performed.Maintain up-to-date, organized records in accordance with internal standards and regulatory expectations.Collaboration & Support
Partner with vessel managers, engineers, and compliance teams to resolve findings and support safe, effective operations.Act as a subject matter expert, applying knowledge of regulations, standards, and maritime best practices.Additional responsibilities as assigned by supervisorProcess & Program Support
Assist in the continuous development of ARTCO’s Survey Program, enhancing procedures and improving overall performance.Support the administration of compliance monitoring and business performance metrics.Safety & Compliance
Consistently follow and reinforce safety protocols, following The ADM Way. Technical Competencies
Solid understanding of marine systems, engineering, shipbuilding processes, and vessel operationsProficiency in reading engineering schematics, vessel diagrams, and inspection reportsFamiliarity with ABS Rules, U.S. Coast Guard regulations, ARTCO Survey Standards, and ADM policiesProficient in Microsoft Office Suite and relevant maritime survey softwareCommunication & Soft Skills
Strong written and verbal communication skillsHighly self-motivated with the ability to work independentlyOrganized, detail-oriented, and committed to professionalismPhysical Requirements
Ability to work indoors and outdoors and in varying conditions such as hot, cold, dusty, etc.Standing and sitting for prolonged periods of timeKneeling and climbing stairs/laddersAbility to crawl tanks, as needed for inspections and surveysAbility to work near or on large bodies of water, at various heights and in confined spacesAdditional Requirements
