Join the NEW Buckwalter ASC team as a Surgical Technologist!
The Buckwalter ASC is a new facility that will focus on Spine and Orthopedic surgery and will have 4 ORs.
Start Dates: March - the facility will open mid-April
Location: 75 Baylor Drive, Bluffton, SC 29910
Status: PRN
Schedule: 2 shifts/week. Shifts are available Monday-Friday. The Buckwalter ASC will be closed on weekends, major holidays, and does not require on call shifts.
What You'll Do
Duties:
+ Sterile Field Setup: Prepare the operating room by setting up sterile surgical instruments, equipment, and supplies required for specific procedures.
+ Case Cart Management: Review surgeon preference cards to ensure all necessary tools and implants are available before the patient enters the room.
+ Equipment Verification: Test and ensure all surgical equipment (light sources, suction, power tools) is functioning correctly.
+ Aseptic Technique: Perform surgical scrubs and don sterile gown and gloves; assist the surgeon and assistants with gowning and gloving.
+ Surgical Assistance: Anticipate the surgeon’s needs by passing instruments, sponges, and sutures efficiently and accurately.
What We're Looking For
+ Education: High School Diploma or GED, required. Graduate of an accredited School of Surgical Technology program or Military Training Equivalent (68D – Operating Room Specialist). For incumbents who are not graduates of an accredited School of Surgical Technology or have certification please see additional skills required. Online Surgical Tech program credits will not be accepted.
+ Experience: Previous Surgical Technologist experience, preferred.
+ Licensure/Certification: Current Surgical Tech certification, preferred.
+ Additional Skills (required): For incumbents who are not graduates of an accredited School of Surgical Technology or have certification the following additional requirements apply: new graduates must obtain certification within 12months of hire. Ability to successfully complete generic and department-specific skill validation and competency testing. Demonstrate effective and appropriate customer service skills, verbal and nonverbal communication techniques, interpersonal relationship skills, and time management skills.
+ Additional Skills (preferred): One to two years of experience in sterile processing or equivalent training if assigned solely to sterile processing.
