**SURGICAL TECHNOLOGIST APPRENTICE - FULL TIME** **Position Summary:** Under the direct supervision of a preceptor, Surgical Services Educator or department leadership provides surgical assistance in the operating room and assisting with departmental support activities following hospital and departmental policies, procedures, and standards of care. **Essential Functions and Responsibilities:** * Assists in preparing and setting up the operating room * Assists surgical team during operative procedures * Assists in terminal cleaning of operating rooms between cases and after the last case each day * Creates and maintains sterile field for surgical procedures * Assists with maintaining records, reports, and other documentation related to the work, including risk management and performance improvement reports. **Qualifications:** _Required:_ + High school diploma or equivalent; + Operating Room job shadow + BLS certification _Preferred:_ + Surgical services or sterile processing experience + Direct patient care experience **Program Requirements:** + MedCerts online training - 288 hours + In-Person OR simulation lab/sterile processing - minimum of 48 hours + Completion of 125 cases with preceptor oversight + Certification as Tech in Surgery, TS-C (NCCT) within two years of completion of online training.
